Established in 2013, we are a child friendly independent shop selling everything for little (and not so little feet). Realising there was nowhere local to buy good quality, fashionable shoes we have given up our day jobs and cherry picked the best shoes, boots, wellies, socks, tights and accessories we could find.

By "walking" we mean when your child can walk unaided and without falling, for about 5 to 8 meters. It's very important to get those first shoes right for your little ones. The shoes must have a very soft sole so your child can feel the floor while walking, this will help to develop their arch and strengthen their ankles, they also need to be roomy enough so they are not constricting the toes.

Here you will find information about the brands we stock, why we stock them and what we believe is special about them. We stumbled across Plae while on holiday in New York (there's always time for a bit of comparative shopping) and thought they would be a great fit for our brand mix.

When we got back to London we couldn't find a UK agent so contacted Ryan Ringholz, the founder and chief designer, who asked us if we knew anyone who could help us get these shoes to the UK market.To cut a long story short we hooked them up with our lovely friends at Crafty Mothers and the rest is history!

Here at Windmill, we take it very seriously and we know how important these feet are. Pop in to have your kid's measured and fitted properly in a very relaxed atmosphere.

TOMS aim to improve people's lives through business by spreading powerful messages and raising awareness for great causes. This initiative started by giving shoes to children in need when TOMS was founded, but 11 years later they're working with more than 100 Giving Partners to deliver 6 Unique Gives.
