Yoga Loft At Daves Gym
Whether this is your first time thinking about yoga, or you have a strong existing practice, or somewhere in between, welcome to Yoga with Tori. Whatever your level of experience or physical ability, I hope you find a good fit with one of my classes. Conveniently located with classes across Cardiff, I aim to provide a range of yoga classes with something for everyone.

I teach a broad based Hatha yoga practice, with strong Iyengar and dynamic flow elements, but also Yin and restorative practice too. Classes also include pranayama (breath focused practices) relaxation and meditation. Some of my classes are designed especially for beginners, and others are for more experienced students who want to go further.
Services
I first started practising yoga in 1994. Like many students this was initially motivated by wanting to heal a 'bad back', plus some curiosity. I loved it! My teaching journey began somewhat unexpectedly with a group of motorcyclists, when it became apparent that I knew some things that could really help this group of people with aching, battered and protesting bodies.
I am sensitive to working with many different needs in class, including larger bodies. We use blocks and straps to help poses to be more accessible for many reasons (so you won't be singled out!) Wherever possible I offer options so that everyone can work in a way that's right for them. A: Not at all - yoga will help you to become more supple over time, but many beginners have bodies that start out with limited range of movement.
Buying a new mat depends on a few things, including where you're at with your practice. If you're just starting out, even a camping roll mat will give you the padding and comfort to get you started. As you progress, you may well want something with a bit more grip though. Some of you may also be concerned to get a mat that is environmentally sound too.
There are literally hundreds of great yoga books. I've listed a few below that I hope you will find helpful, but it's by no means exhaustive. Please remember that the best way to learn is with a teacher, so that they can help you to modify poses to meet your own needs and ability, adjust you where necessary, and emphasise safe practice - so it's best to practice what you have learnt in class and are confident with, mindfully.
The British Wheel of yoga is the largest yoga organisation in the UK and recognised by the Sports Council as the governing body, but there are other providers too. The BWY Foundation Course offers students an opportunity to deepen personal practice and learn a lot of things that teachers may not cover in depth in a general ability class.
