Oakhill Veterinary Group
We will be offering physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, laser therapy, therapeutic massage and acupuncture alongside conventional therapies aiming to get your pet back to its physical best. Here at Oakhill, we have been looking after animals and pets for over sixty years, in fact there are over 250 years of experience in our current veterinary and nursing team alone.

From rabbits to reindeer, dogs to donkeys, cats to cows, our expert friendly team love nothing more than giving the best possible care to our patients. We're also very nice to humans and pride ourselves on keeping you informed throughout any medical journey your pet might take. Steve Dodwell retires with what's left of his fingers and Tina Nurse (not a nurse, a vet) and Jen Harris join the practice.
Services
Knowledge, experience and understanding are the cornerstones of our fantastic team here at Oakhill. All the team are or have been pet owners themselves and fully appreciate how important your furry, scaly or feathered family members are to you. We think the very best patient and client care can only be built around a strong team and we are thankful to everyone at Oakhill and the part they play.
Oakhill have been looking after the Lake District's animals for over sixty years, today over 100,000 are registered with us. Our caring and professional team have a wealth of experience with animals large, small, furry, feathered, woolly and scaly, there isn't much we haven't come across believe us!
A healthy smile is a happy smile. At these free clinics our trained team will take a look inside your pet's mouth to assess current oral hygiene. We provide help and tips on how to keep your pet's teeth clean and their breath fresh. We see the effects that being overweight has on pets, increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, joint and urinary problems.
Being based in the heart of the Lake District means farming is as much part of our DNA as yours. We understand how important your livestock and working animals mean to you, which is why we have built a team of well qualified vets with a wealth of farm animal and equine experience and we are proud to have supported the rich farming heritage of the Lakes for over sixty years.
Your pet coming in for even a routine operation can feel nerve-wracking, but trust us when we say that owners worry far more than their furry friends! From the moment you arrive, you and your animal will be looked after with dignity, respect and of course the utmost professional care and attention.

It was my cat Tilly's first visit to Oakhill December 2021 for her annual jabs as we moved into the area. The process of changing vets was extremely easy (phoned previous one and asked them to email details over). The vet came to greet us on time and with a friendly manner. Before he saw Tilly, he checked her vaccination record that I had brought with me. He then helped me unclip the carrier and was very gentle but thorough when he examined Tilly. I confessed I wasnt all that good at administering worming tablets so he did it for me there and then. After Tilly was back in her crate, I asked one

My dog had surgery and physio at the ARC.
The vets and nurses were amazing! They were great with both our dog and us.
We decided to do the physio sessions at the ARC and we are so glad we did. We saw great improvements in our dog and she is back to doing what she was before her injury and surgery. The treatments were great and the staff brilliant.
I would highly recommend going to this Vets and using the ARC services.

Visited whilst on holiday. The vet we met was lovely very professional and thoughtful. Flynn our labradoodle had been unwell for a couple of days so we were concerned. Seen promptly and reassured. Many thanks

My Labrador Lovell, 13, is really benefiting from Emma’s physio and laser therapy to help his arthritis. This picture was taken after his most recent session, enjoying a swim in the lake. Thank you for giving me the joy of seeing my beloved dog happy again.

Gem, our seven year old cocker spaniel, injured her back, and was given a 50:50 chance of walking again. The team at Oakhill have been excellent. Alex was realistic about the chances of recovery, and yet so positive, caring and enthusiastic, giving us hope and much advice and support to help with Gem's progress.
Once the Animal Rehabilation Centre opened up after lockdown, Marcelle and Emma took over Gem's treatment and their professionalism and advice has been superb. They explain everything so clearly, both the structured exercises for homework and the hydrotherapy treatment, and are always

Archie was born with a birth defect which was quickly detected and diagnosed by the fantastic team at Oakhill. The initial outlook was bleak but with hydrotherapy in the state of the art Animal Rehabilitation Centre that outlook changed very much for the better. He now leads a happy and normal life with many thanks to the dedicated and caring team at Oakhill.
