At Glanhowy Primary School we are fortunate to be able to offer many pupils support in their learning of core Mathematics and English skills through working in small groups with one of our intervention team once or twice a week.
Pupils identified as potentially benefiting from this support will be pupils who are able to work largely at the expected level for their year group but could be currently coasting, have a few areas of their understanding missing or may need help making the essential links between skills which are preventing them from making the progress they are capable of.

As a school, we take mental health and wellbeing very seriously and we are leading the way in highlighting this area. We are currently working towards a Wellbeing award, which will demonstrate how wellbeing and mental health in our pupils, staff and parents are at the forefront of our school's vision of leading a mentally healthy school.
The Thrive Approach is a powerful way of working with children which supports optimal social and emotioanl development. It also allows us to work in a targeted way with children who may have struggled with difficult life events to help them re-engage with life and learning. Thrive uses arts and play-based activities with children to promote a positive sense of self and build on their capacity to learn.
