The Happening Bagel Bakery
The Happening Bagel Bakery specialise in bagels and challah bread. The Bakery was opened in 1994 by Isaac Cohen, who learned the bagel business at various bakeries in north London. The Happening bagels are hand-rolled, boiled and baked in the traditional way. Rather than bake in large batches overnight when electricity is cheapest, the Happening crew bakes in small batches throughout the day ensuring fresh bagels every time.

Our wide variety of bagels include Plain, Sesame, Poppy Seed, Onion, Cinnamon & Raisin, Rye, Carraway Seed and Olive. Our bagels are available plain or filled. The Happening Bagel Bakery offers you a wide variety of freshly baked goods. Come and see why our most loyal customers keep coming back. This is because The Happening Bagel Bakery prepares and bakes its bread, bagels and pastries throughout the day.

Best plain bagels this side of the river selling 12 for £6.50 which I thoroughly recommend. Other food they have is all a bit underwhelming for the price tag usually. Also it's open until really late
Edit 2 years later and I'm dropping a star it's like 8 quid for 12 bagels now, I know this place got mentioned in that fall song or whatever but that's high bagel inflation right there

Have used this place over a good number of years.
However, today's visit will be the last.
Lack of products (bagels!), so had to choose an alternative, then buy an additional product to make card payment.
Wouldn't even mind if there was an apologetic tone, or in fact some civility to the service, which there wasn't.
Don't worry, I won't inconvenience you any more with my custom. At £4 for a margarine bagel with two slices of meat, I'm happy to make my own in future.
Good luck for the future...you'll need it...

BEST bagels in London, although other than the bagels I don't think the other items are particularly good. You need not expect a warm welcome as the staff are consistently grumpy. I still go back to this place as the bagels are really good.

Been going to this bakery for years but yesterday the 30/01/21 will be the last time I will go there. The lady in the staff picture standing 1st from left needs to be trained properly on how to deal with customers even if she's having a bad day. Very rude and unprofessional, refused to serve me because I told her the question she's asking had already been asked by her colleague if I needed a bag which I said yes, she flip and said she won't serve me anymore and that I should wait for her colleague to come serve me. Very Unprofessional! just had to leave because I didn't want to make a scene.

Had a delicious salt beef and dill beigel with whole-grain mustard and pickle, followed by a moist, tasty Rum Baba. What's not to like?

5£ minimum for paying by card was annoying. Also I've bought cupcakes, a cherry pie, a doughnut and bagels from here. Cupcakes were too sweet, cherry pie too dry, doughnut dry and odd texture.
I would recommend only buying bagels from here.

If you are after freshly baked, steaming hot loaf of bread - day or night in London, this is the place to be ... and for other pastries too... but the bread is the star item.

Brilliant bagels and all breads.
We live in Yorkshire and make an excuse to go whenever we are in London and walk away with 4-5 bags of food. Fabulous

Absolutely lovely bagels! I'm staying in town for two weeks and had The Happening Bagel Bakery recommended by a friend, and I was so lucky because it was just around the corner from where I was staying. They are so fairly priced and delicious! One of the things I will miss the most when I get home. It can get busy in the morning, but what do you expect at such a wonderful spot? They are very efficient though, so I can't imagine anyone would have to wait around for long.
And being from Los Angeles the first day I went in and saw they had rainbow bagels, and still had rainbow bagels at nearly noon
