Robin and Jane welcome you to The Newnes Touring Caravan Park in which they have created a wonderful haven for visitors to escape from their busy lives and get back to the wonders of nature. The Park is set in the small hamlet of The Newnes, where Robin's family have farmed for seven generations, since 1840.
The caravan park offers eight acres of lawned level pitches, also with some hard standings available set in three fields with a choice of views. It has an elevated and sheltered setting giving breath taking views of the surrounding countryside. Field 2 and 3 face East with views over rolling farmland towards the Llangollen Canal with the Wrekin and other hills beyond.
The site has excellent access. It is approached by a sweeping roadway lawned either side and lined by daffodils and fruit trees. You then reach the 6 Acres of beautiful lawned Park which has breathtaking scenery and access to the network of footpaths to Ellesmere and the Llangollen Canal. There are 60 Hook-up points each offering Electric and Mains Water POINT and Night Lights.
Big Hill Cottage is a delightful, end terrace cottage set in the small hamlet of Newnes where the owners family have farmed for seven generations since 1840 near to the outskirts of Ellesmere town. This site has good modern facilities but they weren't cleaned at all during our three night stay, despite the site being busy. We only saw the owners to pay them so didn't get a chance to mention that a few of the bathrooms had lights that weren't working and so were very dark and one of the heated towel rails wasn't working either. This could be end of season wear and tear. The top field is level and away from the road and fairly quiet but on the lower fields there are mainly seasonal caravans, traffic noise and other pitches are uneven.

Nice quiet site, adults only Facilities are good but not cleaned whilst we were there. Same cobwebs in corners. This is at odds with previous reviews. Perhaps the cleaner was on holiday. Also cutting grass and not collecting clippings mean the floors need sweeping all the time Good 20 minute walk into Ellesmere. At the side of the main road for a while although there are grass verges to use, especially if you have a dog with you.
Ellesmere has lovely walk around the eastern side but you can't get all the way round. Plenty of shops, Tesco in town
Nice walk on the canal towpath brings you to another

Great 2 night stay en-route to Scotland. Wonderful country vibe yet close to the town. The facilities are second to none with individual cubicles - toilet, sink and shower, which every site should have in my opinion! Owner very friendly and spent time chatting which not many do these days. Ellesmere is a lovely quirky town about 20 minute walk away) with lots to see and do. You can hire rowing boats at the Mere and the canal towpath is a nice place to walk. (I bought lots of lovely things from the boat sellers). There are plenty of places to eat, we ate at the Red Lion pub for lunch and also Meze

My hubby and I have just arrived back from our first visit to Newness adult only caravan park, Ellesmere. Wow, the toilet amenities were spotless, pitch spacing ample and the views out of this world, all varied depending on which field you are on.
Robin and Jane were very welcoming and extremely helpful.
Would we go back, most certainly.

Site is a little 'hilly' in places but pitches are generally level
Facilities are spotless and are cleaned regularly. Very good views from the three main fields. Owners are very friendly and amenable. There is a small, but well stocked, fishing lake for use of residents. There is a footpath from site which leads into Ellesmere Town. Will we visit again? Yes.

Spent a lovely 3 nights here in our tent in September 2017 and again in June 2018 and would go back. Would be great if we could be guaranteed a flatter pitch by reserving a pitch if possible as the lower field is on more of a slope but the pitches available on that field (as most are seasonal caravans) some are more slightly sloping than others. Numbers 33, 34 and 35 seem to be the better ones for a tent to ensure your items like cupboards/table are level.
The top field seems more flatter but is more open. When we booked the owner told us to choose which ever pitch we wanted which was great especially
