Services
From five branches in Lisburn, Dundonald, Dromore, and Glengormley, Sam Baird Opticians provides award-winning eye care services to local residents. Our family-run opticians has built a solid reputation over 35 years by offering everything from eye tests to visual stress assessments and dry eye treatments.
A sight test isn't just about checking to see if you need glasses or contact lenses, although that's obviously the main reason people visit an optician. A sight test is a check on the health of your eyes and can detect many common eye conditions that if found and treated early can significantly prevent potential sight loss.
As a longstanding part of the community, families trust us when it comes to children's eye care. We provide a number of assessments for children of all ages from our five locations across Northern Ireland. All tests for children are free and covered by the NHS. Let's face it, kids don't exactly know what "normal" vision looks like since they have very little experience to base it on.
An eye test tells us a lot more than whether you need new glasses or not. Along with a few other similar procedures, eye tests can give warning to a number of conditions that when caught early enough could be stopped in their tracks. From high blood pressure to glaucoma, tests can show us what your body's trying to tell you and help us outline the best eye condition treatments.
Don't sit and suffer alone. If you're having a problem with your eyes that requires urgent care then you should seek it immediately. Nobody needs reminding about how essential our eyes are and though there might be nothing wrong with them other than irritation, it's always better to have them tested just to be sure.

I am so very thankful for the kind and friendly service at Sam Baird Opticians Lisburn. I was not a regular patient, nor was anyone in the family, but they still were kind enough to rush me in for an emergency appointment as did everything possible to make me comfortable and ease.
A day before I was told I might have a torn retina, and would likely go blind as a result of I did not see an optician immediately, so my go referred me to the Royale Hospital. After 13 hours trying to be seen, they still didn't have anyone to see me and said they had no idea when the doctor could see me, but that after

Very patient and kind staff who explained an eye test to my father who passed it first time. We also found the staff to be very friendly and approachable.
My father had previously four eye tests for his driving licence at another practice and failed all of them simply because he didn't understand how the tests worked.
Well done Nicola and Aaron!
