Penylan Farm enjoys an enviable location in the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside. We are just 5 miles from the medieval market town of Monmouth, birth place of Henry V and are nestled between the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Black Mountains. We offer quality Bed and Breakfast and three charming self catering cottages.
Original oak beams and under floor heating together with Welsh wool blankets will make your stay here extra special. Awake to the sound of the birds singing, take in the fresh clean air and enjoy wonderful walks and panoramic views from the farm. We will do our best to make your visit one to remember, providing local knowledge on great places to visit, tourist attractions and events, and also the best places to eat.

Penylan, meaning top of the hill, is situated in the Parish of Llangattock-vibon-Avel and was originally part of the historic Hendre Estate, home of the famous Rolls family. Co-founder of Rolls-Royce, Charles Stewart Rolls was also celebrated as a racing driver, record breaker and aviator. In 1910 he became the first person to fly the Channel both ways.

We spent several weeks on Penylan together with our 2 kids and our dog. Love the stunning view out of our livingroom and the magnificent sunrise every morning. Cathy and Dave were wonderful hosts. Even our kids had the possibility to look Dave over the should at work. Looking forward to come back in 2021!!!

Cathy is a generous and charming hostess. I couldn't have hoped for a better home away from home in the Mill Cottage. The space is well laid out, clean and well maintained, and has everything I need. I really appreciate being able to self cater and come and go as though it's my home. Brilliant position also, nestled halfway between Monmouth and Abergavenny. There are excellent walking opportunities either direct from the door, or only a short car journey away.

Had a wonderful stay in Ciderhouse Cottage with our three year old grandson. Excellent accommodation, friendly hosts who can't do enough for you. Nothing is ever any trouble.
We have now stayed in the B&B, all the cottages and this was our second stay in Ciderhouse Cottage. Loved each and every stay. Can't wait to go back.

Very friendly, great quality. The scrambled eggs (from their own hens) were wonderful. We stayed in the Mill Cottage and my mom stayed in the main house. Both were beautiful. The high point of the parish is just out the back gate of the garden, with amazing 360 views of the area. Farmer Dave took the time to talk with us about his farming. Cathy was very friendly and accommodated all of our special requests about breakfast. (Vegan-friendly for one, extra scrambled eggs for another.) We wished we could have stayed all week.
