BACP Accredited Counsellor and Attachment Focussed EMDR therapist, offering a tailored and confidential service to adults (18+). It can be tough at times; sometimes unfair, confusing or painful. If we don't fully understand the reasons why we feel, think or behave in certain ways, it can start to affect other areas of our lives.
Difficulties may present themselves in response to current or recent events, or can be longstanding problems resulting from earlier experiences or relationships which can continue to influence us, often without our knowledge. You may notice recurring, and often destructive, patterns in relationship with others or yourself which are unwanted or confusing.

Services
I have worked within several NHS trusts providing psychological therapy for adults experiencing a wide variety of psychological problems within primary care settings, along with several counselling services within the voluntary sector.
I have a specific interest the psychological impact of trauma; this could be a 'one off' overwhelming event, such as car accident or violent attack, or a series of events or experiences stretching back to childhood, such as abuse or poor relationships with early attachment figures.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (more commonly known as EMDR), is a powerful psychological therapy that was developed by an American clinical psychologist in the 1980's. EMDR therapy can be used to treat a wide range of psychological difficulties that typically originate in trauma, such as direct or indirect experiences of violence, accidents or natural disaster.
It is important you find a therapist that you feel comfortable with and whose therapeutic approach is appropriate for your needs and therapy goals. Therapy generally starts with an initial period, normally one session, where your current difficulties, therapy goals and history will be discussed. After discussing your needs, if we subsequently decide to work together, sessions will normally be arranged weekly and last 1 hour.

I had an accident back in 2018 where I became trapped in a confined space and was really suffering with the traumatic after effects. I was booked in to attend 6 sessions using EMDR. I had no idea what to expect or if it would work? I was quite embarrassed by all this as I've never needed counselling before but I was made to feel at ease and actually looked forward to the sessions. I can't explain what I went through after the accident or how EMDR works but the effects were pretty amazing. I cannot thank this guy enough for what he did.
