Founded in 1991, we offer exceptional childcare for babies, toddlers and preschooler's from six months up to five years in a fun, stimulating learning environment. Our nursery building has been specifically designed with children in mind, complete with a purpose built preschool.

Services
I joined First Steps in 2016, having worked in the childcare sector for 25 years, holding a foundation degree in Early Childhood Studies. Having had three children, I have first-hand experience of the joys of early childhood. I enjoy my job immensely and no two days are the same; I look forward to seeing the children engaged and motivated in their daily activities.
As well as the EYFS curriculum, we offer a wealth of additional activities for our little ones. The children enjoy weekly music and movement sessions, mini chef's cooking, sing and sign and treasure baskets. We also take the toddlers and pre-schoolers on short excursions to local places of interest to explore the world outside nursery.
First Steps Nursery are pleased to offer up to 30 hours funded childcare for all 3 and 4 year olds for eligible working families. If eligible for up to 30 hours government funding you may be entitled to up to 1,140 hours per year. Eligible parents will be able to access up to 30 funded hours from the beginning of the term following your child's 3rd birthday.
At First Steps your child will explore a new exciting environment, make new friends, have adventures and learn as they go along on their journey through the nursery. We realise that whether you are coming to the nursery for the first time or transferring from another setting, it is a significant transition for you and your child, and one that needs to be handled with care and sensitivity.

This nursery definitely feels like a home away from home for my little one and I am impressed daily by all the things she learns and all the personalised support she gets. The staff are warm, welcoming, adaptable and clearly very experienced; and the environment provides my daughter with so many creative and engaging activities. I am extremely pleased with the service provided by the First Steps nursery and would highly recommend them. At this nursery I feel daughter is constantly learning in a fun environment, eats well, is supported, comforted and is safe… I simply couldn’t ask for more.

My daughter goes here and she loves it. Lots of learning, lots of space and very engaging. It's like an extended family and I trust them fully with my daughter. Good meals also and I love that I get to hear about her progress each day and see some lovely pictures on her e-book. Would fully recommend.

My son has been going to First Steps since he was 10 months old and I can’t say enough good things about this nursery. He has the best time there and always has a big smile on his face when I pick him up. He often doesn’t want to come home as he’s having such a good time. The staff are wonderful and always easy to approach. The range of activities… they do with the children is fantastic and they have regular outside time which I was very keen on when I was looking for a nursery. My son has attended First Steps Nursery since he was 10 months old and the team of qualified staff have supported and encouraged his development all the way through the various rooms ahead of him starting reception. The rooms are bright, spacious and full of resources. I am constantly impressed with the range of activities and topics they cover within the nursery. I would recommend this nursery to anyone and I’m so pleased with it my second son will be joining when I return to work.

The nursery teachers are what make this nursery so great! They’re caring, knowledgable, fun and always going the extra mile with all the kids. There’s always good activities planned, kids are well looked after and everyone’s always happy :)

My son has attended First Steps since April 2017 and has thoroughly enjoyed his time there. The staff are excellent, the facilities are great and we can't fault anything really. My son goes off to 'big school' in September and he will miss the friends he's made there both kids and staff! Well done to all!

My daughter has loved coming to nursery, from a child who never left our side before coming to nursery to a child who runs into nursery without even saying goodbye. The staff have taken the time to really get to know her and always hand over what she has done and eaten in her session. I highly recommend First Steps.

For anyone looking for pre-school childcare for their little ones, I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. My children (currently my twins) absolutely love it here. They go in happy and want to stay at pick up, as they get to do so much and have lots of fun. It really is a great nursery with a lovely team.

Since my little girl joined November last year she’s been so happy here! She loves all the interaction with the other children and the staff have been very warm & friendly. She’s really taken to her lovely key worker julie who has also really helped her settle in so well. Management have been brilliant to very approachable & understanding with any worries I’ve had along the way really helping me with leaving her. It’s a great little nursery & would recommend to any one so far.
