The Spice Lounge

My first Indian food experience has most likely spoiled me because I may never find Indian food or service this good again. I had the Jalpati chicken with lemon rice and some plain naan. The green and red chiles set this dish off perfectly! Everything was tasty and the staff was very attentive and gracious. I highly recommend this restaurant whilst in Derby.

The first time we were served well and the chicken shashlik they brought us out on a hot stone. The second time, we were seated at a dirty table and I asked to wipe the table to keep it clean. We ordered a chicken shashlik and a king prawns shashlik. This time they brought to us just in plates, not on a hot stone . We also ordered papadam which they brought burnt and had hair. There are no salt, pepper, paper napkins on the table.

Lovely place. Friendly staff, had popadoms and pickle tray which was very nice. I had chicken chat and it was really tasty and we'll presented. My husband had a mixed starter with lamb, chicken and a butterflied prawn and he liked that. We shared a chicken jalpathia as we wouldn't have been able to finish if we had a curry each. It was delicious, it was hot with green chillies from the jalfrazi, and hot sweet and sour from the pathia. We had a plain naan with it and there was plenty. Really enjoyed all the food, wish there was a spice lounge in Rotherham.

Good prompt service but the food was not all to our taste. Had a prawn puri to start but the puri was very doughy and the prawns had little flavour or sauce. Then had the garlic chilli chicken for my main which was tasty but again was let down by a doughy naan although the rice was nice. Also a plus was the nice ambience in the restaurant. Would visit again

Absolutely fantastic, fit us in with no booking, lovely friendly staff as always and great food. Encouraged to try something different by the water and definitely worth it. Reasonable too, order before 8 for early bird special, on every day. Did I tell you I love it

(Normally would give 5⭐️)Normally I collect from here, have dined in as well, but last night due to being unable to drive we ordered and requested delivery for the first time, . First of all let me say we nearly always choose SpiceLounge as they are to us the best or one of in derby and when i enter the premises the guys are always nice polite and friendly so never had anything bad to say about the food or staff.. until yesterday. The food arrived 40min late, delivery guy did not even knock on door or ring bell (as we was so hungry we was luckily looking out the window for the driver) and food

Fantastic food and service. The Malbec was decent as well.
We did the early bird offer and it was very good value for money.
Definitely worth a visit. Will return.

Delicious and great service. Not too expensive either. The Syrian beef was outstanding. Need to book as gets very busy on Saturday night..
