Services
With around forty classes running weekly, more than half of which run as part of our outreach projects, we reach around 250-300 people a week with ages spanning from 15-95!. At Edinburgh Community Yoga we are passionate about self-care at work and promote the benefits of regular relaxation throughout our city.
Our vision encompases the yogic values of respect and compassion and the humanist ideal of unconditional positive regard. We believe in social equality and work towards an inclusive world where each individual has access to and is empowered by doing yoga.
We take the therapeutic benefits of yoga to communities in Edinburgh, ensuring access and inclusion, by working across the cultural, economic and health barriers that inhibit people from taking part.We aim to provide a learning environment that is safe and supportive, and to equip people with the skills to deal with stress, and improve their health and mental well-being.

Equity, diversity and inclusion are central to the goals of Edinburgh Community Yoga. We recognise the inequities in the systems that surround yoga and the wellness industry in the UK today. We acknowledge that these inequities have led to the exclusion and harm of many communities.
We aim to reach our broadest audience and create an environment that includes participation from people of all races, social or economic status, ethnicities, genders, ages, abilities, religions and sexual orientation free from discrimination or harassment.

We know that compassionate leadership, good role modelling and active encouragement of staff wellbeing creates happier staff, effective teams and more productive organisations. By changing the culture of the workplace and actively encouraging stress reduction techniques to become a part of the working day, productivity and work satisfaction increases.
We are not currently running residential retreats but intend to again start again when circumstances allow. Please see our typical weekend retreat description below. How can we make time for our selves and our wellbeing in a world that moves so fast? In this weekend we will explore the importance of self care - specifically looking at prioritising relaxation, time to 'be', and joyful activities.

I attended the ecoyoga retreat by Loch Awe, Argyll last weekend. The yoga therapy with Laura was excellent, the food delicious, the other attendees good company and the venue a treat with its hot and cold tubs, sauna and waterfall plunge pool. Bettina's massage was superb too. I thought it exceptional and will try to go back. The weather was remarkable too! :)

New location and studio.....same old brilliant yoga classes. I go to Laura's class on Tuesday but have also attended Sarah's classes in the past and they are both superb teachers. Add to this the fantastic not for profit work they do in the community and ECY is the most enjoyable and worthwhile yoga class you could find !

I recently got married at Carlowrie Castle, and I asked Laura to conduct a pre-wedding yoga session for close family. I'm a beginner, and everyone in my family is at a different level. She was quite literally amazing. She bought calm energy within me and taught me techniques to bring myself into the moment throughout the day.
It worked.
On my wedding day I was calm, I could take in every special moment and was able to really enjoy my day.
I would recommend her to anyone, for yoga in any situation!
THANK YOU!

I have been practicing for a several years and moved to Edinburgh looking for a regular class. I tried many different yoga classes until I found this class. Laura is fantastic. She clearly maintains her knowledge and practices on a regular basis. She accommodates if you are seeking something in specific from the class and is always changing it up as needed while progressing everyone along. She is very respectful and helpful. I appreciate the calm yet energetic approach she brings.
I would highly recommend attending class :)

Laura is a wonderful teacher! I started my practice with ECY as a nervous, inflexible newby, with previous experience of meditation only. Laura adapts her classes to fit the needs of all her clients and assists where appropriate in an non-invasive manor. The welcoming, non egocentric environment is conducive to developing your practice at your own pace. With weekly classes my ability and enjoyment increased quickly. There are different payment plans to suit differing needs. Another aspect that I particularly like about ECY is their commitment to further education and helping others. They seek to

Laura is a wonderful teacher who creates a safe, peaceful and warm environment whilst sharing her skill and knowledge. The small class size allows her to give some attention to everyone so that she can encourage you to improve at your own pace.
I started learning yoga with ECY and I keep going every week - give it a go!
