Chillies Indian menu is properly curated from where you can choose from a vast array of traditional curries sitting at a cardiff table and testing the chilli India! Marinated chicken or lamb roasted in clay oven, cooked with onions, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms served in special thick spicy sauce.
I was looking for a Halal Indian restaurant and chillies come on search. I ordered food online and advice them cook the food for me in proper Indian style and my background is South Asian. I was so impressed with their speedy delivery service, Excellent food great price good service. We go every year as a family outting, food and service is the best around and the restaurant decor is constantly being updated.

Do not go here - poor food and even worse service
I arrived at chillies at 20.15 on a Saturday night with two friends, and ordered by around 20.30. The restaurant is small, and most tables were filled, but it still did not feel busy. By 21.30 our food had not arrived, and neither had the table next to ours. We spoke to them and they had ordered around 15 minutes before us. They also thought it was unacceptable that they had been waiting so long. I spoke to the waiter and kindly pointed out the length of time we had been waiting, and asked how long our food will be. He was apologetic and stated

Believe the bad reviews. Go to Mowlgi’s, it’s worth the less waiting time and MUCH better food.
I’m a passionate Indian cuisine eater and this is up there with the top 3 worst Indians I have ever had.
We waited an hour and half for food which was ridiculous but i wouldn’t have minded if it was worth the wait. It was awful.
It’s not even worthy of being a restaurant. I’m sad now I didn’t have a take away from mowgli instead.
Don’t waste your time, energy and money on this place.

I'am amazed at these comments. I have eaten here and took advantage of their all you can eat menu. I ordered some dishes i have never tried before in the hope of finding something new. However each dish (and there was four dishes shared with 2 people), looked the same tasted the same.
Lets not glorify this place, its aimed at students that have no or very little culinary skills, its all you can eat for £8....enough said.

The food is pretty good. Above average for sure. And good for the price. The all you can eat stuff deal is good, but it basically works out to the same as one would pay to order food separately.
but the real issue is how slow this place is. 7 people came in, and 30 minutes later we had to ask to order food. Appetizers took an hour. Mains another half hour. We arrived at 6:30 and left at 9:30. Too long.
They were not that busy, everything takes forever. The waiters are a bit surely. and for the price you can get better Indian elsewhere. Things were very greasy as well, but that's indicative

Chillies is a long established Indian Restaurant and takeaway on Whitchurch Road in Cathays. In the ten years that it has been open it has undergone a process of evolution that proves that they are as passionate about what they are doing today as when they first opened. These days they use olive oil and don't use any artificial colours when preparing their food.

Chillies is the kind of old-fashioned, good value curry house you end up in after a night at the pub.
The food is fine, but by no means gourmet fine dining, with large portions (as is the way with Indian restaurants) and special 'all you can eat' meal deals on certain quieter nights of the week (Sunday and Monday when I last visited) for around £8 including starter, main, dise dishes and even dessert! At that price, you wouldn't expect much in the way of quality - but actually it's all pretty tasty! They don't, however, do home deliveries.

This doesn't offer the absolute best Indian food around but it takes a fairly good shot at it.
The main plus for this place is that the portions are extremely generous. For students trying to live on a small budget, this restaurant will be a haven. The prices are low anyway but the sheer amount that you get is incredible.
The service isn't particularly great but it is fast.
What you'll be going for, though, is just those huge portions!
