Lovely Hotel, great location! Highly recommend!
We all thought this is a great hotel, the staff were all very nice, couldn't do enough to help us. We particularly liked the room for 3 people which had the third bed up some stairs which was great for privacy and made the room seem bigger. It's lovely to be able to have a proper bath when on holiday instead of just showers. We enjoyed the cooked breakfast as well, it came out quickly and set us up for the day! We will be back next time we need a hotel in London :D

By far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. It was selected by the travel agency. Had I known this was the hotel chosen for the trip, I would not have booked the trip after visiting the hotel web site and looking at the photos. Rooms are extremely small. The bathroom door couldn't be opened all the way because it hit the bed. Getting in and out of the tub/shower was dangerous as the tub was high and there was no grab bar. There was only ceiling lights and no table lamps, as there were no tables. The night light by the bed didn't provide any lighting - no bulb? One desk chair, which

The Phoenix is first and foremost in an outstanding location a few blocks from Kensington Gardens and the Tube in a very trendy neighborhood with plenty of shopping and eating options.
I arrived quite early and wasn't sure I'd have a room ready. After an exhausting flight, I was so very grateful when the ever courteous and accommodating staff had a room waiting immediately upon arrival around 10am. I was able to come in, shower and rest before heading out to start my adventure. While the room was quite tiny (I couldn't bring in both my suitcase and carryon at the same time), the

The single room was very tight but neat and clean with a newly remodeled bathroom. Ideally located near the tube station, hop on hop off bus stop, Kensington Gardens/Princess Diana Memorial Fountain and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Very nice staff at the desk 24 hours/day. Great breakfast spread, too. I was able to make half a sandwich to take with me for lunch!

Excellent location, close to Kensington Park and a nice playground for kids, and many good restaurants around the area, underground stations very close , also laundry facility 3 minutes away. this hotel is definitely rated for higher ratings not sure why it's rated 3 on yelp. The beds are comfortable and they give nice big towels and the bathroom is renovated, rooms are clean and they included instant Nescafé coffee in room and cookies, the instant coffee is by far the best I've tried in hotels.

Wifi with password given at checkin. A good continental breakfast with various deli meats, bread, cereals and boiled egg. Self serve of course, in the back room. The triple bed room was cool, with a little stairs going up to the third bed. Fans were in the closet. It can get warm in there. I'd caution when booking in the summer; check out tripadvisor reviews for any details on that. The location is pretty awesome. The subway is a couple of minutes walk away on the yellow circle line which is under 20minutes (or whatever it says on google maps) to the Westminster station for tourist access

My husband, tween now teen daughter and I have been coming to the Phoenix for several years. The property wasn't renovated then, much of Bayswater (London, NYC) was in the midst of renovation. Our experiences have all been positive. When the property wasn't renovated the rates were dirt cheap. Now that it's spiffy you can still get a good deal if you book in advance. Most of the staff is Eastern European which is a different culture than we encounter in the states. So we like that very much. Housekeeping is too accommodating. When our teenager won't get moving until noon

By far the worst part of a two week Europe tour was our two-night stay at the Phoenix. Room was so small you couldn't walk after adding two suitcases.
Our family of four had two rooms. We booked through a travel agent....
We found:
* small rooms, not large enough for two adults - at best 10x11 rooms
* crappy beds - very uncomfortable
* no A/C - a real issue in the hot summer months (they supplied a fan)
* super small elevator, very narrow hallways - would be out of code in US
* breakfast was ok, nothing special
If you choose to stay here, the room with twin beds appeared to be slightly

I was totally prepared for all the cons of these reviewers about this place prior to booking. My main reason to book this hotel was free wifi.
This paid off exceptionally well although I ended up having to use the wifi in a certain spot in my room but still it was fast, faster than US speeds for sure.
The hotel staff were nice and let me stow away my baggage for the day after checking out officially at 11am since I was flying out at 7pm.
There's a free computer in the lobby so you can print out your boarding pass and check in for your flight prior to arriving at the airport.

This was my first time staying in a European hotel. My initial reaction was, "Cute! So Europeany!!!" The inside is adorable, very quaint and cozy. It's older, with teeny tiny elevators that can hold four normal sized people. The rooms are a bit small, but according to my fiancé, it's a rather spacious room for a European hotel. Amenities include hairdryer, shampoo, shower gel, electric kettle, television (ours doesn't work), and free WiFi!!! That's probably the best thing. They also offer free continental breakfast till 10ish.

It was clean. it was cheap. the rooms were small and crappy. BUT! it was in a super cute/safe neighborhood with easy access to the district, central, and circle lines, as well as numerous buses. it never took us more than 10-15 minutes to get to the hustle and bustle of central London, but gave us a quiet place to come back to at the end of the night. the staff was friendly and helpful, and again, i stress that while the rooms were crappy (old furniture/beds/etc) and small, the place was clean.
bonus points: free breakfast (wasn't too appealing, but if you're on a budget, what&apos

This is a small hotel in a convenient location on a nice side street in Bayswater. My normal place in Bayswater was booked, and this was the only place in the area in a comparable price range, so I decided to give it a try.
The room was clean, but tiny, as was the bathroom. Very little sound insulation between rooms. But cramped conditions is pretty much standard for any well-located place in London under 100 pounds a night so I wasn't expecting any different.
The place advertises free wi-fi, which was terribly slow and almost unusable. Generally speaking, you shouldn't be

So, yes, it is a tourist hotel. i understand that. but, ugh. the rooms are crap.
my issues:
1. Our 9 inch tv didn't work
2. NO air control... so you are at the mercy of the outside weather.
3. it made me nervous that we had to turn in our room key every time we left to go out anywhere, and when we came back they didn't check our ID's.
4. rooms are SO tiny.
5. way TOO expensive
good things are, but NOT necessarily worth it:
1. breakfast in the morning.
2. location
3. no shared bathroom
conclusion:
would never stay here again.
