We are very happy to announce that we are open again and taking bookings for the hotel and restaurant. However, to support the wellbeing of our staff we are shutting the restaurant on Sundays and Mondays whilst we recruit more lovely people onto the team. We foresee this being a short-term problem and we will update the website as soon as we are able to open on those days again.

This felt like true Dorset, as the village is untouched and the hotel is charming.
All the staff were so welcoming and we have two small dogs and they were welcomed too, which we don’t take for granted.
The food in the restaurant felt as though it was cooked with love and both the steak and pheasant kiev were delicious. The breakfast too was superb.
Finally, special mention goes to the front of house guy who was brilliant and seemed to be everywhere during our stay and the waitress who was on her second night of service. Well done both and thank you for making us feel so welcome.

This restaurant has undergone a change in ownership and whilst 'change' can be turbulent for some, the food offered was delicious. It is rare to find good restaurants that actually produce decent, thoughtful food so our visit here was worthwhile. The staff were equally superb, particularly in dealing with a group of diners who were loud and offensive. Thank you! We will certainly return ( having frequented the Castleman for many years). Great to see that the new approach. Good luck as you continue.

All-round excellence: terrific team; fabulous food; lovely room. Friendly professional team – all genuinely interested in their hotel, restaurant and guests – hit the right note of informal-professional. Over three days, dinners comprised high-quality ingredients and great cooking; perfectly cooked breakfasts were best we have had. Large, clean, tastefully decorated comfortable room with a big bath and big shower. A pleasure to sip morning tea in bed looking out over the field and trees beyond the garden.
