Mount Pleasant Health Centre
Mount Pleasant Health Centre was purpose built in 1973 and has been periodically extended and improved by the partners. We welcome new patients and are happy to meet with you to discuss the services we provide and to answer any questions. NHS England requires that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown below.

However, it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.

It's Your Practice: A patient guide to GP services has been put together by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) for patients. This guide has been produced as part of the RCGP's aim to build stronger relationships between you and your doctors and encourage the involvement and inclusion of you in your own care.
These are the GP's who hold their own patient lists in the same way as the Equity Partners. These are the salaried GP's who work alongside the Partners and have all been at Mount Pleasant for many years.

GPST's - To become an independent General Practitioner in the UK, a Doctor must undertake at least three years of GP Specialty Training (GPST), normally including 18 months in an approved training practice with a further 18 months in approved hospital posts. We host 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year trainee GP's working alongside our GP teams in Primary Care as 3,6, 9, 12 and sometimes 18 month placements.
Our purpose built nursing suite provides 100sq/m of consulting rooms and a curtained area for the nursing care of our patients. Our consultation rooms are equipped to a very high standard and we have one room specifically for minor surgical procedures. The Friends of Mount Pleasant Health Centre have provided us with specialist equipment.
Julie is responsible for the overall day to day running of the Health Centre and future strategy planning. Ian helps Julie with the day to day running and has responsibility and oversight of the Finance. Ali works tirelessly with GP rotas and timetables as well as system reporting and data collections.
The PMA (Practice Managers Association) have been appointed by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) as a Gateway provider for the Kickstart scheme UK-wide initiative (excluding Northern Ireland). The Kickstart Scheme is for those aged between 16 and 24, who are currently claiming Universal Credit, and may be at risk of long-term unemployment.

There isn't 1 GP that believes a word a younger person says, your always fobbed off. Your an inconvenience you them. How dare you go to see your GP with an illness, they are much to busy for you, it's just blah blah blah. Your GP isn't actually your GP, you might get to see a doctor so long as you take up more than 5 minutes of their time. Disgusting arrogance. The NHS has now got to the point of complete failure.

No words can describe how bad this surgery is. My friend is registered with this surgery. She suffered back injury six months ago and is in constant pain. In this time she have seen doctor only once - junior doctor. From acute pain and injury she is now in chronic pain. No scans have been done. Only remedy - pain relief. Decision about referral to do any tests or scans was left to physiotherapist - which she finally saw after five months. Decision to make steroid injection was made without any supporting test or scans. Everything is blamed onto COVID now, but during summer months there was no big

I had some rather worrying symptoms which were picked up by the GP who arranged for an urgent appointment at the hospital. Fortunately nothing serious but I commend the staff at the Health Centre for their timely attention and considerate support.

4th november phoned in for appointment for covid booster vaccine and was given 12th november at 11.55am, when i turned up the receptionist said she could find no appointment for me and when i asked if i could get another date she was very abrupt and said no we don't have any free dates and she doesnt know when they will and i was asked to leave so she could deal with another patient, not the type of attitude i expect from this surgery.

Absurdily incompent. Here's a hilarious example. I was planning on doing a charity fund raiser for the NHS which required a signed health certificate from the doctor. A single signature. I handed them the forms, wait a week, then am asked to pick them up... Only to find a sticky note saying they won't sign the form and that I'd need to find a private doctor. The paperwork was entirely basic and just an administrative hoop. I will now dump the NHS as the charity of choice as they are not fit for purpose and an absolute joke. I can't believe I clapped for these people last year.
On a medical front

After switching surgeries the realisation of how dreadful mount pleasant health centre really is was validated. My experience was one of disregard and endless mistakes of both diagnosis and prescription orders. What has taken eleven years to figure out at mount pleasant health centre has taken southernhay house surgery practice two months since registering. I wish I’d left much sooner.

I just want to say thank you to the receptionist and GP who helped me with an enquiry yesterday. As an associate Chaplain I found myself supporting someone in distress and in need of medical support. I had a really constructive facilitated conversation with reception that led to a much needed outcome for the patient later that day. It is evident that GPs are under massive pressure and to have such a response from the medical team at Mount Pleasant was amazing. I do want to thank everyone at the Health Centre for taking the call and providing wonderful care. Thank you for all that you do.

I have to give a good review after one of the doctors probably saved my life last year. I had pain and numbness in my arm, I was surprised when the doctor asked me to come in but after I did he had diagnosed a serious blood clot and had arranged for me to go straight to hospital and was in surgery as soon as I had had a covid test.
In general though, every doctor I have seen there has taken the time to listen and diagnose, I am very grateful to them.
However the point people make about the receptionists is quite valid, there does seem to be at least one of them who is point blank rude when you

I've been a patient of this practice for a long time, and almost always my family and I were very well treated. Not always able to seeour own doctor , but it doesn't mean that we didn't receive all the attention and care we needed. I find the receptionist very well trained in triage patients , also very helpful. Also the nurses are outstanding.
Only once, long time ago, my child was seen by a locum doctor , who wasn't of much help and arrogant, but other than that we are happy with the practice services.
Thank you
