Services
Prior to 1906 The Stanley Arms was a working farm. The licence for the pub was transferred from the School Rooms in Macclesfield Forest in 1906, and for many years The Stanley Arms was both a working farm and public house. Originally called The Derby Arms, named after Lord Derby, it changed its name before the Second World War, to the Stanley Arms (Stanley being the family name of Lord Derby of Knowsley).
Your luxury accommodation consists of seven luxurious en-suite double bedrooms all furnished to the high standards you would expect from 4 star guest accommodation. The accommodation is ideal for people on business, tourists and visitors to the area or couples seeking a quiet few days relaxing in the wonderful surrounding countryside.
The restaurant was originally a poolroom, but has now been converted into a select dining area with places for approximately thirty people. The Stanley Arms enjoys an excellent reputation for good food and drink in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We believe this to be one of the reasons for regular groups of people, returning, time after time, to enjoy the delights of our restaurant and the fine food served there.

The bar has a selection of real ales from the Marstons Brewery, including Marstons best bitter and the renowned Pedigree.
Standing outside our front door and looking directly ahead, you can see the view along the valley, with Shutlingsloe Hill in the distance. It has been said that a local farmer once drove his landrover to the top, but I do not know if this is true.
What I do know is that, at 1600 feet above sea level, the view is amazing, looking out over Wildboarclough village and some hamlets with quaint names such as Danebridge, Wincle, Kerridge, Kettleshulme, Lamaload and almost over to the famous Goyt Valley and its associated reservoirs. The river Goyt rises on the moors near the Cat and Fiddle, and flows down through steep cloughs (valleys) to feed Fernilee and Errwood reservoirs.

Wonderful welcome. Very large comfortable bedrooms and superb food! A fabulous place that we will return to regularly. The landlady and landlord and fabulous team make sure every guest is happy. Whether visiting for a drink, food or overnight stay you will not be disappointed. The food portions are huge but save room for the lovely homemade desserts too!!
