Stewarton Medical Practice was formed in 1965 when Dr Tom Duke (who had taken over from Dr Lloyd, who practiced on her own) and Dr Peter McGeechan (who had taken over from Dr Bowman, who also practiced on his own) formed a partnership. They originally practiced from 18 Avenue Street in addition to, some years later, a branch surgery in Dunlop.
With the expansion of the town, Dr Peter Howie and Dr Ken Hambly came on board, and the practice moved to the newly constructed Stewarton Health Centre in 1978 where we are still based. There have been a few more changes since then. We currently have 10 GPs - 3 male & 7 female; 3 Practice Nurses; a Healthcare Assistant; 2 Management Staff, a Secretary and 8 Reception/Administrative Staff.

Please respect others privacy by refraining from gravitating towards the glass whilst waiting to be attended to. When requesting an appointment or asking to speak to a doctor or nurse our receptionists have been instructed by the doctors to request a general explanation of your request. This is to help us deal with your request in the most appropriate and efficient way.
