Just realised that my 5 star score 8 months ago did not take into account the intense food poisoning that my mum and I subsequently developed. The only thing we had both eaten that weekend was one of the starters at the Windmill - a chicken liver terrine. Nice meal, shame about the consequences - correcting to 2 stars.

Fantastic food, lovely local atmosphere, cozy fire and in the summer the beer garden is amazing. They have a couple of dog friendly tables inside Incase your out for a walk in the beautiful area and want to grab a pint and a pie in from the cold.

Very festive cosy pub. Delicious food. Mushroom and chestnut soup was absolutely amazing! My friend wanted to visit as it was her local when she was in her early 20's so it was a lovely nostalgic Christmassy visit. Well worth dropping in! The mulled wine was like nectar! 🍷

Stayed one night after a day at Wetherby races. Arrived late afternoon to find a warm welcome and even warmer open fire in cosy bar. Management and staff very friendly and efficient. Pleasant dining environment. Evening menu not extensive but certainly adequate. Quality and size of dinner portions very good.
B & B accommodation exceptionally clean, comfortable and warm.
Overall a very good experience representing good value for money.
Certainly recommend.

What a beautiful old traditional pub. It was very busy which is allways a good sign. We just popped in for a quick pint, wished we could have stayed longer as it was very welcoming.
