We reserved a double room over the internet, two months prior to our arrival. When we arrived, they gave us a room which was half under the road level! Of course, since we had already paid and we wanted to stay only for two nights, we decided to put up with the situation. Two stars, showing lenience... 😒

The rooms are quite small, but they are very clean and the beds are so comfy you'd fall asleep almost immediately upon laying down. The hotel staff are friendly. They spoke good enough English, and my family and I got by. The breakfast is good, but the dining area is small. Better to wake up early and be first in line or else the rest of the guests would occupy the better seats and you're forced to eat with the table right at your chest. The best part about this hotel is location. It's close to a major train and tube station, next to roadside cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores. It's a walking

Bad breakfast - not continental at all. Hostels in the same area offer much better breakfast! Workers in kitchen were very unhelpful when we asked if there was dairy in bread due to allergy.
The room has no great facilities and some structures really needed maintenance (as the toilet and shower).
Some of the receptionists were unhelpful and not very sympathetic.

This was a most disappointing and unpleasant experience. I chose this location for I have stayed in 2 of the other hotels nearby on the same street, but Olympic House is a moldy, dark and very cramped hotel. If you want air conditioning you oay ( no big deal but) you have to call the front desk to turn it on and then call again to turn it off. I assume it may be that way for heat as well. We have traveled for decades in dozens of countries and have spent considerable time in London as well, and I can say quite honestly that this hotel is by far one of the very worst places. It may have indoor

Alex--the manager and person I interacted most during my stay--is professional, kind, patient and the perfect welcome from a red eye flight.
The actual hotel is small and a stone's throw from Paddington station. Price-wise it's very reasonable and reasonably clean. The amenities include daily breakfast and wifi in main lobby area.
It's definitely worth the stay.

Great location: Easy walking distance to Paddington Station, bus stops, and a pick up for bus tours all on London Street.
Foodie neighborhood: Popular and variety of restaurants and cafes nearby.
The hotel itself and staff are both nice. It is expensive in London for accommodation, so to have a room in such a great area for 105 pounds per night, was a fair deal.
Cons:
The room and bathroom were small.
-The sheets and blankets in poor condition.
-The breakfast (toast, jam, 2 brands of cereal, boiled eggs, cheese slices, coffee, water, and orange juice.... just bland and not enough variety

Paraphrasing Dorothy "Toto, I don't think we're in Waikiki any more!"
If you are European this pleasant small hotel is a solid 4 star value. If you are an American tourist in London for the first time, this hotel might be a very rude awakening. You have a few lessons to learn about international travel. You might as well learn the lessons at this very nice small hotel.
Lesson 1: In London a large hotel room is small. A small hotel room is really really small. A very small hotel room may be beyond your ability to compute.
