Nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills near Blagdon, Bristol on the beautiful grounds of Coombe Lodge The Old Potting Shed offers a unique and idyllic setting for children grow and learn. Our rooms at the Old Potting Shed have been carefully designed to offer the best possible environment for your child; we offer childcare to children 0-2 Yrs Seedlings, 2-3 Yrs Saplings and 3-4 Yrs in our Pre School.
We provide breakfast and after school club for children attending Blagdon Primary School, Burrington Primary School and Ubley Primary School. Our aim to provide childcare where all children feel safe, valued and nurtured and our families are included. We work with a child-centred approach inspired by Reggio Emilia and ensure that our care is tailored to meet the needs of each individual.

Services
In our converted stables we offers our Seedlings a wonderful environment where all their individual needs can be met; tranquillity for rest, stimulation for play and supportive and caring staff. The stable block is divided into four separate areas that maximise development opportunities.
Following the Reggio principles, we support the belief that the environment is the "third teacher" and provide children with plenty of natural light, space for movement, stimulation and access to open-ended play resources. Many of our resources are highly tactile and varied so that the children can investigate them using all their senses.

When your child is ready to start in the Saplings room (2-3), they will find a multitude of opportunities! At this stage in their development children will be encouraged to explore the world around them through independent and adult-supported activities.
For children moving from The Seedlings we ensure that all transitions are handled sensitively; to include discussions with families and allow the children time to settle into their new environment. As children become more independent we offer them a more flexible routine.

Once children are three they move up to the Tree House Pre School the following term. Before starting in our Pre School all children will have taster sessions to help explore the new environment. For all families new to the Potting Shed this will include an initial parent meeting. On the second of these tasters each child will be given a gift - their new Pre School uniform!
We offer a Breakfast and After School Club service for children attending Blagdon Primary School, Burrington Primary School and Ubley Primary School. Breakfast Club starts at 08:00 and we drop children to their schools in time for the start of the day. All food will follow our healthy eating policy.
Our After School Club uses both the Stables and Potting Shed for their activities. The After School Club has a two weekly timetable of activities that the children help design and choose which activity they want to take part in. The aim of the sessions is to try and offer the children more choice in the types of activity that they would like do and allow children to choose which friend they want to spend the evening with.

An amazing place, wonderful staff who really care and know how to create a loving, safe and nurturing environment. The nursery is in a stunning setting with so many resources and things for the children to do. It feels more like a family than a nursery. Food is cooked onsite so no corner cutting and the facilities are brilliant (indoor and outdoor). Highly recommended.

I have 2 little ones, my son is in seedling 0-2 section, there's lots of variety for him, indoor soft play and plenty of outside space. My daughter is in the saplings section which is its very own secret garden wonderland. Really promoting the at one with nature. My daughter has more emotional needs and I have really felt they are really observing what her needs are. The facilities are fantastic and the people go above and beyond for you. On the practical side it is very easy to park outside and rather give you a detailed report on what your child's activities have been that day, you can tell the
