We provide a high standard of care, learning opportunities and education in a secure, homely and relaxed environment. Our highly qualified Early Years Teachers and Practitioners are trained to value, support and celebrate children's development and achievements. At Pooh Corner we see each child as an exclusive individual who sees the world and develops at his or her own pace.
We conceive play as the 'child's job'. Therefore, quality free flow play is based on each child's developmental stages and interests. Through a balance of child initiated play and adult suggested play our Early Years Teachers and Practitioners nurture our children's love and freedom to learn and make discoveries.

Pooh Corner Day Nursery and Preschool is an independent care and educational organisation. It was founded in 1990 based on Mary Regan and Sarah Bradley's love for early years education. It is situated in a spacious Victorian house with large windows which welcomes the day light into our rooms. Our outdoor facilities invite children to explore their physical potential and integrates all the other areas of learning offered indoors.
At Pooh Corner we establish a strong link with our families as it is of paramount importance that we know every child as an individual. The children's background, and home experiences are valued and integrated in our practice. Our focus is to encourage independence and nurture self-esteem in children.
The Baby and Toddler rooms are where babies, toddlers and young children up to two years of age are cared for. The Provision accommodates up to fourteen children. The two rooms, the linking area, the peaceful sleep room, the changing area and the kitchen make up our very homely space for our younger children.
Within our free flow system, the children can choose the areas and rooms they want to play in. Within our self-registration system, children move freely from one room to another, in and outdoors. The children learn both through play, and structured activities.
We offer a range of activities including music, cookery, dance, creative work, nature exploration, physical activity both in-doors and out, small-world play, and others, all of which allow children to develop independence, self-esteem and confidence. We provide opportunities for our children to explore new learning experiences by stimulating their mind through individual attention and group participation.

Our preschool children have carefully planned activities in preparation for reception year in primary school. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the day when pre-school children can participate in activities and play with peers from the same age group. Resources and games are inspired by the best research and proven educational approaches to support readiness for school.
