Services
The fruity bouquet shows black cherries and prunes as well as a hint of sweet spice. Full bodied, rich and structured, the velvety tannins provide sufficient backbone to serve with game, grilled meats, and full favoured cheeses. The Merlot lends the wine a soft, blackberry voluptuousness, whereas the ripe Corvina adds the characteristic cherry blossom perfume and ripe cherry pie fruit character to the palate and finish.

As a regular visitor who has previously scored this restaurant 5, I have to say my latest visit was less pleasant. The noise levels were so bad from a couple of surrounding stations that we gave up any attempt at a conversation until we managed to get moved to another table. The other person with me described it as 'bedlam'. The food was good, the staff were great, but the management took no action over what was really unacceptable behaviour which completely destroyed any of the claimed ambience. Would I go back? Probably not.

Authentic italian restaurant, mushroom starter delicious but found the haggis bon bons alittle bland. Main course made up for this, tomato sauce over the ravaolli was devine. Fresh pasta, lovely surroundings but rather chilly waiter who didn't come across friendly. Although would pay another visit without a 2nd thought.

Update: Came back again while passing through Linlithgow this year and still loving Bar Leo. Brilliant with the kids. They loved each of their three courses. Nice to see Peroni on draft now and the Italian Sauvignon was beautiful. Highly recommend the Prawn Puttanesca, supreme flavour. For main course, hard to decide between Lobster ravioli or Veal with wild mushrooms, both are wonderful.
Previous Review: Authentic Italian feel. Good menu. Mushrooms stuffed with black pudding were delicious. Would have like to see more wines by the glass and draught beer rather than just bottles.

Tasty tasty pastas!
If you are looking for a classic Italian restaurant like your used to from when you were a kid!
The breaded veal Milanese was AWESOME, was expecting it to come with a steak knife but it didn't and it didn't need to, it was soft and super tasty!
The tagliatelle with bacon, peas, cream and cheese is epic and might be one of the nicest pastas I have has in a long time.
The penne, chicken, peppers and spinach was not anything to write home about (kind of like a ready made pasts from a shop).
The deserts look awesome and home made, we were too full to try one but definitely

My family of six adults and one infant was on a recent trip to Linlithgow
And we ordered take out food one evening. Everyone enjoyed their meal so much, that we decided to use the restaurant the following night to dine in.
Upon arrival there was a friendly greeting, and a quick response to get a high chair for the baby.
We ordered starters of bruschetta, garlic bread and a meat board that was enjoyed by all.
Our main entrees were pasta dishes, and pizza, and the restaurant was accommodating with an allergy request. Once again, we all enjoyed our meal, the portion size, and especially the taste

My boyfriend, his family and I went here for his wee brothers birthday dinner. I'm going to preface my review with the horrible fact that I'd left my phone at home, so there were no pictures taken of the gorgeous food we had that night. Poor on my part!
Anyway, back to Bar Leo. What a great place. Reservations were made for the 11 of us (I love big families) and it being a Monday night, the restaurant as a whole was pretty empty. We took up a good portion of their back room, with plenty of seating to spare. It was snowing that night, so it was nice to be seated in a warm, cozy

I just think it is always a nice atmosphere the handful of times I have visited Bar Leo.
Some times we have wine and nibbles others the full dinner menu, I am yet to be dissapointed with anything and If ....and its a big If..I were to be,I am sure the attentative staff there would be on hand to change it. The portions are large, the liver starter was more like a large main. I've had veal, steak and fish all have been delicious and I've yet to try a bad wine there. Overall a good experience everytime.

Tiny shop front on the main street which extends a long way back to give a generously sized dining room.
Lovely, modern decor, subdued without being dark or dingy. Mixture of booths and tables which I imagine would suffice for most.
Enthusiastic and friendly staff. Some may consider them a little too ernest but never pushy or intrusive.
Food is simple, standard Italian restaurant fare. But what makes them stand out is that it is exceptionally well executed, especially the deserts.
Seems very popular, they took three or four phone bookings for Friday evening while we had our lunch there

Fairly conventional menu with a few specials that change daily. The food always seems fresh. Nicely decorated and well kept, it's a bit bigger than it looks from the outside. Attracts families, groups and couples but the layout accommodates the different wants of these groups well. Price wise it's ont he border between three and four "pounds" on the price range review. Last time we were there(August 2010) a three course meal for two with one glass of wine and two soft drinks was £52 plus tip.
