The Jug & Bottle, a traditional pub with rooms nestled away in the heart of Heswall on the Wirral peninsula. Our bar has a buzzy feel to it with a few of Heswall's great and good popping in for a pint. We've also got a quieter side for a more relaxed or intimate meal. Whilst she might not be prettiest of pubs from the outside once you're in you'll feel right at home.
The Jug is full of character with open fires and different cosy areas to hide away in. In the sunnier months we have a fantastic large decking overlooking the surrounding gardens with glimpses of the Dee Estuary and North Wales through the trees. Our bar serves a great selection of local beers along with some cracking wines from all over the world.

Services
The Jug & Bottle has been owned by the family company, Stange & Co. since 1992. During which time we have seen Heswall change in a number of ways and various pubs and restaurants come and go. Having stood the test of time we have also had to evolve over the years.
Many will remember the Jug as a busy tapas restaurant & bar with live music before we decided to change tack, and bring a proper British pub to Heswall serving wholesome British food, local ales and quality wines. Our food has acquired quite a reputation with people visiting from far and wide to try our delicious choice of pub classics and seasonal specials not to mention our selection of mouth-watering homemade desserts.

All of our food is sourced locally where possible from Wirral and surrounding farmers to both support local business and also to showcase the fantastic produce that this area has to offer.
The Jug & Bottle has nine en suite bedrooms, all of which are spacious and comfortable with LCD television, tea & coffee making facilities and FREE wireless internet. We have double, twin, small double and family rooms starting from 65.00 per night. Many of our rooms enjoy views over the Dee Estuary to the hills of North Wales or over to the stunning and distinctive skyline of Liverpool and over the tranquil gardens surrounding the guesthouse.
As rules ease in England, we welcome the return to what feels somewhat normal however we still put our team and our customers safety at the forefront of what we do and therefore will be keeping a number of restrictions in place as we feel this ensures safety for all whilst maintaining the friendly and sociable environment that our pubs always offer.

My stay was great.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
I will be going back.
Breakfast was good, I rarely have a full English but regret not trying it here.
It was easy, competent, not completely soulless like a Premier Inn... Exactly what I was looking for. The room was as described and in good condition. It had blackout curtains which would have been useful if I hadn't arrived and left in the dark!
I forgot to pick up a vat invoice whilst I was there but they emailed one afterwards.

Some decent food let down by absolutely shocking service. The waitress told my friend to learn to read when he misquoted the menu (asked for bread and olives, when the menu item was bread with olive tapenade), and said that lots of people have made the same mistake today. Maybe update your menu if people continue to get this wrong? At any rate, she was incredibly rude and belittling.
My only comment on the roast beef was that it was excellent other than the shared veg, which wasn't a great selection.

A very pleasant Sunday lunch at the Jug and Bottle. Four of us including family from βthe Southβ, we chose the Jug without having been there previously and it was a hit. We were very impressed with the staff who obviously have had some excellent training to carry out their roles with professionalism and great understanding and respect of their customers. Although a lot in hospitality trade are bemoaning the shortage of staff, that did not appear to be a problem at this establishment as both drinks and the food were served up quite quickly and piping hot. The quality of the lunch was excellent
