We are a large primary school situated in the north of the historic town of Darlington. We provide a stimulating and exciting educational experience for 630 pupils aged between 4 and 11 years old. Services
Governors work closely with headteachers, school staff and representatives from the local authority (LA). The Governing Body of Whinfield Primary School has a crucial role in helping to ensure that all of our children have the best learning and development opportunities possible in order to maximize their potential.
Managed by the British Council, the International School Award is a supportive and motivational framework that guides schools through their international work. The Rights Respecting Schools Award is a Unicef UK programme that aims to put children's rights at the heart of schools in the UK.

Whinfield Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff to share this commitment. We are all responsible for ensuring that each child remains safe, however the Designated Lead for Safeguarding is Kay Murray, supported by deputy designated leads Shirley Welsh, Carol Hall, Debbie O'Callaghan, Julia Murphy and Michelle Charlton. We follow strict procedures to ensure that everyone who works with our children is vetted, keeping our children as safe as possible.

Fab school. especially reception their team is amazing. my boys have done fantastic (even this year my youngest is on target for where he needs to be for year 1) the support from all staff during home schooling was second to none compared to other schools. glad we have chosen here for their education.

Our son Ryan has been attending since September 2017. He is in Reception and I can honestly say he loves everything about it! But more importantly, the support that has been given to him In regards to his… speech therapy has been outstanding and the communication from the teachers can not be faulted. I am so happy we chose this school x
