Services
Whether you are a visitor, parent/carer or pupil, we hope that you will find a warm welcome at Barley Fields Primary School. Our aim is to provide a safe, supportive and challenging environment where everybody has the opportunity to reach their full potential as learners. We believe that this can only be achieved if a child feels happy and secure, and our staff work hard to provide this environment for our pupils.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children's rights at the heart of schools in the UK. Unicef works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. Our Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.
We have a school uniform that is worn by children from Nursery to Year Six. Our children are proud to belong to the school community and value the identity that the uniform provides. The uniform is intended to be smart, practical and economical and adds to the sense of family and belonging we have in our school.
I'm Glynis Pattison, Chair of Governors at Barley Fields. I have been involved with Barley Fields since the setting up of the school and have been a governor for over 13 years. Barley Fields governing body consists of thirteen members, including the head teacher and two associate governors. They are representatives from the staff, parents, the community and the local authority.
We have an active school council who work collectively to represent their peers in matters and decisions that affect them and their education. Each year, classes elect a member of the school council to represent the views and share the ideas of peers in their class in a monthly meeting. They also promote the Rights Respecting Schools ethos.

Our son is in the last year of junior school and for most of the time he has attended Barley Fields Junior School and must say from what James has told us and from what we have witnessed through visiting the school on different occasions this school gets the 5 stars for the effort that the staff at the school put into teaching our kids the right things in life and sticking to the curriculum set by Government guide lines. What a team this school has, keeping this
