At Capel Primary School we provide students with relevant learning journeys that make them active participants in their education. They will be taught how curriculum subjects intertwine and will be given real life learning experiences.
This enables them to create, present and reflect upon genuine understanding through a creative teaching approach, where children get 'hands on' and experiment with ideas, resources and artefacts to support their learning. The school aims to listen to and work with many different supporting bodies, one of the most important being parents.

In the following, you will see. The things that define our school, with a focus on what pupils will leave the school knowing, being and having done. Our reason for being! The main building of Capel School was built in 1885, in 1851 (or thereabouts), the village school was called 'The Capel National School' and was situated next to Capel Church. Not much is now known about this earlier school, but documents suggest it had about 5 teachers and 108 pupils aged between 4 and 15, which only accounted for 1/3 of the village children!
Parents considering applying to the school are encouraged to attend our Open Morning or make an appointment via phone, with the Head teacher who will be pleased to talk to them about the school. This usually takes place when the children are three or four years old. There is also a video on our home page to give you a feel for our school.
This is because these have not been published as performance measures by the Secretary of State. The DfE has given us the freedom to use the Pupil Premium as we see fit, based on our knowledge of our pupils' needs. To accelerate progress and close the gap in achievement of Pupil Premium children so that their progress compares favourably with non Pupil Premium children.
