If you would like your child to attend the Pre-School, please contact us by phone or email. We will need to take some details such as contact details and your child's date of birth. Situated in the grounds of St Mary's Church in the village of South Holmwood, St Mary's is a warm, friendly Pre-School which provides the children and their families with a safe, stimulating, happy, fun, but challenging learning environment.
St Mary's Pre-School is a committee-run group registered with Surrey County Council and Ofsted. We are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and named in the Early Years Development Plan which provides funding for children from the term after they turn three. Children once they turn two can access FEET (Free Early Education for Two year olds) funding if awarded.

Services
St Mary's Pre-School was registered in 1980, has charity status and is run by a parent committee. It is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and our charity number is 1171309. St Mary's is a pack-away setting (activities, equipment and furniture are packed away at the end of each day) operating from a single storey building in the grounds of St Mary's Church in South Holmwood, near Dorking, Surrey.
The Pre-School benefits from free access to a wonderful woodland area just a short walk through a field next to the carpark. The woodland area has a number of trees providing shade, plus a small stream (in winter months), bug hotels, logs and plenty of dirt! We aim to take the children to visit this woodland area as often as possible.
The staff at St Mary's Pre-School have a wealth of experience and some have been there for over 10 years. They have a passion for giving every child the best guidance and support for a smooth transition into primary school. Ofsted (2016) stated Staff have a highly impressive knowledge of children's needs and stages of development.
Each time you shop at retailers such as Amazon, John Lewis, etc, money is donated to the Pre-School. It costs you nothing.except the usual price of your shopping! For information on the Early Years Foundation Stage, how your child will be learning and what you can do as a parent/carer to help your child's learning, please read the Parents' Guide To The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
At St Mary's we truly value the involvement of our parents and carers in all aspects of Pre-School life. We strongly encourage parents/carers to come and help out as "Mummy Helper", "Daddy Helper", "Granny Helper" etc for a session.
Not only does this assist the Pre-School with tasks such as preparing snacks, preparing craft activities, and reading and playing with the children, it also provides an invaluable opportunity for parents to get to know the St Mary's staff and environment and to watch their child playing and interacting with others. If you would like to help please sign-up for a session on our noticeboard.
