HBBS is a local 'not for profit' organisation which was founded in 1989. We offer a professional and confidential counselling service to local adults, young people and children. In the first instance our work was primarily addressing issues relating to bereavement but over the years we have diversified our work in response to the needs of local people and now offer generic counselling to support people of all ages with a wide range of issues.

However, our bereavement support work continues to be important to us. Our work covers not only the Havering and Brentwood areas, but also extends to Billericay, Wickford, Laindon, Pitsea and Basildon areas and we have access to counselling rooms across this geographical area.
Services
Founded over 30 years ago HBBS Counselling (formerly Havering and Brentwood Bereavement Service) has supported local people of all ages struggling to come to terms with a close bereavement or loss.

Primarily through individual counselling and advice and support we have developed a good reputation as a professional, experienced and well-informed local organisation prepared to work with individuals, other voluntary organisations, schools and statutory bodies to improve emotional well-being in our communities.
We are proud of the quality and commitment of all staff and volunteers who contribute to the efficiency and smooth running of HBBS Counselling. We have 10 voluntary members of our Governing Body. Between them they have a range of professional qualifications and experiences and a commitment to making a contribution to the local community.
HBBS Counselling offers a range of counselling services for local adults. We can support you with a wide range of issues incorporating loss, bereavement, change in family circumstances, anxiety and depression. You will be offered an initial assessment followed by an individual counselling programme of 6 sessions if you wish to proceed.
We offer individual counselling for children and young people for bereavement and other issues such as parental separation, anxiety and depression as well as bereavement. These are in the form of an initial assessment session plus 6/8 individual sessions. The sessions are held weekly (at the same day and time) at venues in both Brentwood and Havering.
Make a one-off donation or start a regular donation today and help support the work of HBBS Counselling. If you would like to leave a bequest to HBBS in your will we would be happy to provide you with information about how to do this. A gift of any size will help us to continue and support the excellent work of the service.
