This review is for the hotel and the hotel staff only and not for the spa.
Me and my wife often visit the Spa and we always enjoy our stay there, yesterday was no different all of the Spa facilities, staff and the food was spot on as always.
This time we opted to stay over at the hotel and booked a so called ‘superior room’ at £140 for the night. Basically the only thing about this superior room is the price of it, it was quite a large room with a small TV and only a standard double bed in which the mattress was too hard and wasn’t at all comfy, then the toilet kept making a sound and

Quite simply one of the most beautiful and relaxing spa breaks we have ever enjoyed.
From the moment we checked in we were made to feel at home, the spa is one of the best independent spas we have visited. A wide variety of thermal experiences and the indoor/outdoor pool is a fantastic feature.
We both had a 50 minute treatment (full body massage) and agreed it is the best massage we have had outside of continental Europe. Mollie (my therapist) was exceptional.
The food in the spa was sensational, full of flavour and beautifully presented, very much a fine dining experience which is incredible

Came for a Christmas meal and it was delicious. I ordered a vegan option in advance and it was one of the best vegan meals I've eaten! Gratin of Winter Veg with a dessert of brownie with ice cream. Would definitely recommend. Beautiful setting too.

Our stay was for a family wedding reception which was lovely, had a great night celebrating and the food at the reception was excellent. Breakfast was also nice, no complaints.
What we felt unhappy about was the room. We were in a 'superior' room (no 26) paid £190 for the night which was a discounted rate. Struggling to understand how this room was superior as no bath, no view and nothing fancy or superior. The room was also very dated and exceptionally dusty - we both had very dry throats in the morning. The bed was comfortable and staff all friendly enough.
Overall we had a lovely time but

I had the pleasure of doing a clients hair for her wedding day in one of the suits "WOW" is all I can say. What a beautiful, traditional, old English gem! Her day was magical and absolutely stunning surroundings.

Stayed at one of the "lodges" over £400 a night as my 50th birthday treat. Sadly disappointed. Its basically a new build with little character right next to the main road. No extras were provided for the extra cost only one bath robe which had a stain on it. Bulb not working in the lamp. No head board on the bed. View from the windows were the car park from both sides and the main road. The traffic meant we had very little sleep and then the fire alarm went off at 6.35am which actually happened when we stay there 2 years ago in a double room which was much nicer and in a quieter situation. Stayed here in June as a surprise birthday dinner/stay for a friend who's Father used to be a Silver service waiter here when she was a little girl and she actually lived on site. Although the room we were in was tired and in need of some TLC, the grounds and outdoor spaces are beautiful, and the staff were wonderful, attentive and nothing was too much trouble and they were in on the surprise for my friend too so were very discreet. Evening meal was delicious, and even threw in a Birthday dessert and staff sang happy birthday. We even had a champagne breakfast the next day which we weren't expecting
