Since taking on Peregrine House in 1995, Dr Kevin and Teresa O'Sullivan have worked hard to help the staff to earn our reputation as the leading care home in the area. The home remains entirely independent and is not part of a large care home group. It means we can concentrate on excelling at what we do without the bureaucracy of a large organisation.
Peregrine House is a moderately sized care home, offering 35 single rooms, all with private en-suite facilities and central heating. Each room is of sufficient size to allow room for residents to bring their own favourite pieces of furniture, including their bed if they wish, otherwise we provide modern quality pieces including a single bed, two chairs and a desk/table/dressing table.
Peregrine House staff are trained in dementia care and we welcome residents with this condition. We ensure they are treated with the utmost dignity and respect while keeping them safe within the home. One of our assistant deputy managers, Melony Stephenson, is our Dementia Champion and she is always on hand to make sure Peregrine House is dementia friendly.
We all love our food at Peregrine House. Staff and residents alike enjoy the varied and well prepared dishes the chefs serve, with residents influencing the content of the menu at regular residents meetings. At every meal a choice of three dishes is available, ensuring there is always something for every taste, and the chefs cater for special diets to suit the needs of individual residents.
High quality comprehensive care that represents excellent value for money is our promise to you. Providing excellent care means catering for the varied individual needs of all of our residents with a daily programme of group and one to one activities. This can only occur if there is a high ratio of well-trained staff to residents to lead activities and engage with residents personally.
