A family owned residential care service commited to providing the highest standard of care. Hands on, reliable, since 1995. Residents arrive to a freshly decorated room and are encouraged to bring their own posessions and small peices of furniture. Fresh newspapers and magazines are provided and we provide a wide range of activities from crafts, music, quizzes, aromatherapy, group singing and excursions to the local sights.
We regulalry communicated with family members to ensure the highest standard of care. We want each resident to feel they have a place to call home. By taking time to get to know each resident before they move in, we create individualised and personal care packages to suit each individual. A resident at Norwood House need not have an empty schedule!

Services
Norwood House was purchased in 1995 with the sole purpose of providing care and support for older adults (55+) who experience Dementia and to support their family/partner/carer in their role. Our team is our greatest asset and has developed and evolved over the years. We aim to provide assistance at a level that people want and need.
Norwood was built in the 19th Century for a rich businessman - a sea captain of a local vessel. The building was then used as a religious retreat called Shalom in the early 20th Century. Shalom, a Hebrew word meaning 'peace', the building had no televisions or radios within the building in order to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
We will create an environment where you will receive the highest standards of care, where dignity is respected and talents and individuality is encouraged 24 hours a day. Our service will meet your needs and take full account of and be sensitive to you, your cultural background, ethnicity, values and beliefs.
I visit him on a regular basis and I am made welcome at absolutely any time of the day. He is 97 years old and is treated with respect and consideration of anything he wants or needs. He has on a number of occasions had chest infections which is his weakness, but the care that he did receive and does still receive is always outstanding.

My stepfather has been very happy in Norwood House for 3 and a half years. I visit him on a regular basis and I am made welcome at absolutely any time of the day. He is 97 years old and is treated with respect and consideration of anything he wants or needs. He has on a number of occasions had chest infections which is his weakness, but the care that he did receive and does still receive is always outstanding. The staff and management are excellent and families are always made to feel welcome. I cannot thank them enough for the care they provide for him.

Friends and I have been visiting a resident since Social Services placed her here in the summer. We have several concerns, the most serious of which is that the lift has been broken for over 6 months. A brusque member of staff told me engineers are unable to mend it. You can go up in it but not down. Someone has to come up and hold the outer door closed in order for it to go down. Imagine how confusing and upsetting this must be for elderly residents, with varying degrees of dementia. The lift has also always had one or two bins inside it - a tall yellow wheelie bin and a smaller white sani bin
