Services
Firstly, to introduce myself, I am Martyn Allen, owner and optometrist here at Martyn Allen Opticians. I also own another practice in Heywood, Shaw's Opticians, which I have owned since 2009. Born, bred and schooled in Radcliffe, and still living nearby, I always wanted to open my own practice here at Moss Shaw Way.
At Martyn Allen Opticians, we are an independent practice which caters for the eyewear needs of the people of Radcliffe, Bury and surrounding areas. So our choices of frames have to reflect those requirements. We have frames starting at a very reasonable 25 so if you don't want to spend a lot on your spectacles, then you don't have to.
Our eye examination appointments are usually scheduled for 1 hour, to allow us the necessary time to address your individual requirements, checking your vision, calculating your exact prescription requirements and examining the health aspect of your eyes. We can then discuss the results, advise on the required lenses needed or deal with any onward referral, if this is necessary.
At Martyn Allen Opticians, we are MECS accredited, and are regularly required to see patients on behalf of local GP's and pharmacists, who present with recent onset eye problems. The service is available for all people registered with a local GP in Radcliffe, Bury, Heywood, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop.

We recently had an appointment for an eye test with Martyn after having tried many of the larger optician's. My Husband and I found him to be honest and true. He did not sell you anything you did not need and told you exactly what was wrong with your eyes. A friend also recently had an appointment with him after our recommendation and he told her that what was wrong with her eyes was a degeneration, which no glasses could help. Despite this other larger optician's had viewed her eyes and sold her glasses accordingly, which obviously were of no use. Julia and Martyn make the Heywood shop very welcoming

Friendly, credible, professional experience every time and the personal touches that you just don't get with a "high street" / volume-driven chain. Recently referred my Mum to them so you can't get much higher praise than that! Both Martyn and Julia on reception are very welcoming and great with the kids too.

Excellent service, always used the opticians in Radcliffe Rown Centre - just popped in to Martyn Allens Opticians on Moss Shaw Shops booked me in for eye test then offered me a large selection of great value modern designer glasses - dealt directly with Martyn local lad went to Wesley School then Radcliffe High great to see that he's re-invested in his home town 10/10
