Merriments Gardens consist of a beautiful 4-acre RHS Partner Garden, Plant Centre, Shop and Restaurant, all set amongst the rolling countryside of East Sussex. Many of the plants seen in the Garden are grown in our own Nursery, specialising in unusual Perennials, and are available to buy in the Plant Centre, which holds a complete range of plants from Alpines and Bedding to Shrubs and Trees.
Our Shop sells an excellent range of compost, tools and garden sundries, as well as a diverse range of gifts, cards and home accessories, many sourced from local producers. Merriments Restaurant is a table service, licensed restaurant serving breakfasts, morning coffee, lunches and afternoon tea using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients.

Services
Merriments Gardens began life in the late 1980s, when Peggy Weeks along with her son David, daughter Mandy & son-in-law Mark Buchele, bought the site. Originally a market garden growing tomatoes, the growing nursery and retail plant centre started life in 1989. In that same year, the family purchased the 4-acre field adjacent to the nursery which they originally used to graze sheep and then as stock beds.
Tucked behind tall hedges, Merriments 4-acre RHS Partner Garden is a hidden treasure for garden lovers. Our beautiful colour-themed borders of inspiring planting are set amongst the rolling countryside of East Sussex and evolve through the seasons from Spring pastels to the fiery Autumns hues of the many trees.
Our licensed Restaurant is known for its fresh and seasonal fare, local ingredients and for offering table service in a bright, friendly environment. Our comprehensive menu caters to all dietary requirements, serving Lavazza coffee, breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, seven days a week.
Our menu changes with the seasons, our daily specials drawing inspiration from the surrounding countryside and the talents of our kitchen team who are always baking something exciting or trialling a new soup flavour!

At Merriments, our focus is on plants we have grown ourselves, and increasing the Nursery output to enable our Plant Centre to thrive. Where we are unable to grow our own, Merriments looks to local nurseries and British suppliers for our stock, with an emphasis on high quality, good value stock that we can pass on to our customers with confidence.
The Merriments Shop is proud to supply a comprehensive range of garden essentials as well as a unique and carefully curated selection of gifts! Where possible we work with local producers of toiletries, gifts and cards. We offer a comprehensive range of garden sundries, tools, composts, chemicals and fertilisers, as well as a fully stocked bird food centre, alongside cards, decorations and home accessories for every season.

A really lovely garden centre. Even in September it was well stocked and very tidy. There were displays of plants to inspire you as well as the plants themselves neatly arranged in alphabetical order. A nice touch was trolleys dotted about so when you chose a plant to buy you could pop it in a nearby trolley rather than having to traipse back to the entrance to find one. There's a brand new café which did not disappoint. We had scones which were the best we had ever tasted. All in all a first class experience and owners of other garden centres would do well to go there to see how it should be

Why on earth I haven't been here before goodness knows. Fabulous!!
Lots of parking, although the carpark was rather full when we left.
We had a 2 for 1 entry so £9 for two adults. You can purchase an annual pass for the gardens £40 for two adults.
We walked around the gardens first, which were beautiful and gave me lots of inspiration for my garden. They were flat so I will definitely be returning with my disabled mum.
The staff were all friendly and particularly the young chap in the stunning orange garden which was full with sunflowers, marigolds and tadgets. He gave us some tips on gardening

This is a wonderful garden centre, beautiful, extensive gardens to walk round and get inspiration from. Then there's a large area of plants to buy and an indoor shop for house plants and gifts. On our visit we had lunch with a choice of eating in the restaurant or outside, we chose outside and it was lovely. The food was delicious! All in all a lovely, relaxed afternoon out.
