Massage and Bowen Therapy are both complementary therapies. Neither is meant to be a substitute for medical care, and if you have any doubts about your particular problem, you should certainly see your doctor first. That said, many people come to complementary therapies because they haven't been able to get the help they need from conventional medical treatment.
In this practice you can choose to be treated with either remedial massage or Bowen Therapy. These are quite different styles of bodywork and are rarely used together in an individual session. Both massage and Bowen can be used to treat a very wide range of soft tissue problems but there are some conditions for which one might be more effective than the other.
Most people have some idea of what massage is. The images which appear elsewhere on this web site are typical. The client is lying down, covered by a towel or sheet, while a therapist applies smooth, rhythmic strokes over their skin, usually with the use of lubricating oils or creams. This picture is reasonably accurate, at least as far as Western (also known as Swedish) massage goes.
Bowen Therapy was named after its inventor, Tom Bowen, a gifted Australian therapist who practised in Geelong, a small town south of Melbourne. Bowen didn't teach his method but did allow several men (he called them "his boys") to observe his work, and this is how his therapy came to be taught to others after his death in 1982.
Here are some tips to help your first session proceed more smoothly: Firsty, depending on the reason for your booking, i.e. whether you have a specific problem or condition or you are simply seeking relaxation, it may be necessary to take a detailed health history from you. So think about any accidents or illnesses you've had which might be a factor in your problem.

I used Randy Barber twice due to a severe muscular strain I was experiencing. He practices Massage & Bowen Therapy which I believe is different to some therapists. His therapy helped me a lot on my way to recovery. A very professional practitioner, I would wholeheartedly recommend him.
