Services
For almost two hundred years, the walls of The Maghera Inn have resounded to the sound of laughter, craic, gossip and scandal. We didn't get 'Pub of the Year' by standing still. Outside, The Maghera Inn may look like a quaint, understated Northern Ireland pub restaurant, but inside we're special.
We've a bar that's packed with exotic brands; we're renowned for the quality of our Guinness; and we've a menu that will titillate the taste buds of even the most demanding gourmand. The food is authentic, the setting unrivalled and the service efficient. You can even park your car outside and warm your behind on a roaring log fire.

Our philosophy is to cook the highest quality ingredients in the simplest ways, so we offer tasty, wholesome, unadulterated food that speaks for itself, using premium, locally sourced seasonal ingredients, organic where possible. Traditionally reared beef, locally sourced lamb and pork, sea food that's fresh from the Irish Sea and heavenly desserts, created by hand, all contribute to a dining experience that's exciting and deeply satisfying.
This region was the inspiration for Narnia, so it's no wonder that The Maghera Inn has a spellbinding selection of drinks from the worlds of spirits, beers and cocktails. Indeed, we take considerable pride in sourcing the finest whiskeys, gins, vodkas and beers to bring you fresh, innovative options with a nod to the past.

As an American who had the joy of living in the surrounding area for a few months, I can say without a doubt this is my absolute favorite place to dine and drink. Food is phenomenal, (I recommend the steak) the atmosphere and patronage was a joy and it to this day serves the best pint of Guinness I have ever consumed on this planet. Although it may be thousands of miles away for me now, I still miss it dearly and would visit any time I’m over. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Absolutely amazing food! This caramel espresso martini was brilliant, it would have been so wonderful for brunch. My parents and I went for Sunday dinner and had the stuffed leg of lamb. The portion sizes were so generous and the food full of taste. Photographer is the chicken liver parfait in homemade wheaten bread with added treacle - simply beautiful.

Nice country pub, good menu and great food. Lovely staff, pretty quick service and dog friendly but be there before 6pm if you have a dog to get outside dining in the lower level. There is a covered patio for later service for dog people but this has only 6 tables so could be trickier to get a table at busier times. This was a good find and no problem recommending to others.

Such a good spot in a remote location. It's decorated well and had a great fire when we came in from the chill outside. We wanted to try several things off the menu. Everything was delicious and the portions were spot on. My pork belly was presented well and cooked perfectly. Only room for improvement was the creamy mixture with the mussels. I enjoy drinking it after like a soup but it was a bit too rich to do so. Going to recommend and return.

This was a favorite spot of my FIL and so my DH took me here on a recent trip back home. We ordered a good deal of food but don't regret it a bit as it was all so good that towards the end of our meal, we were quasi-seriously plotting a kidnapping attempt on their full kitchen staff to take home with us to our local fishing village (Mayport, FL).

Wow this place is an absolute Gem! Wish we lived closer than nearly 2hrs away. Went to slieve donard for a short break and we were recommended the Maghera inn for a good meal. Food was fabulous, steak was the best I've had yet. Great friendly pub with lovely atmosphere and first class food. We will definitely back! Tip: book in advance because clearly more ppl than us found how good this place is (very busy)

Find this place on the way home from or to Newcastle for a great pub dinner or lunch. It's a really lovely country pub with great food. I have been a few times and have never been disappointed. It has all the traditional dishes such as Hake, Haddock, Salmon, Chicken and a delicious Beef and Guinness pie. Sunday's can be very busy so book ahead. There is outdoor seating with lovely views of the Mournes, but I enjoy the cosy country interior.

Located in Maghera, close to Dundrum, this pub never fails to impress. Food served daily, Beef and Guinness pie with champ is my personal favourite. Daily specials normally consist of fresh fish dishes, locally sourced.
The bar is wheelchair accessible.
Staff are extremely attentive and friendly.
Great Guinness.
It is best to book for lunch at the weekend as it gets extremely busy. Views surrounding the bar are stunning due to it being located close to the mournes.
Well worth a visit.

About 45 minutes outside Belfast depending on who is driving (or navigating!), lying at the foot of the Mournes is the wonderful Maghera Inn.
I had been here before, years ago, but couldn't tell you how to find it until we came across it by accident again and what joy! Turns out it is dead easy to find- take the left turn at the Castlewellan roundabout, keep going, turn left for Maghera, sorted.
Going through the small green door you cannot help but feel welcome with the winning combo of friendly staff and roaring fire. Instantly you feel you wish someone wasn't driving and you could

I went to this restaurant during my business trip to Ireland since I wanted to go to an authentic Irish pub and Maghera Inn was voted food pub of the year in 2007 and second place in 2009. This restaurant was amazing. I ordered Dundrum Bay Mussels and Maghera Inn Sizzling Platter. The staff was friendly and provided our party a free round of Irish cream dessert shot to end our meal. I recommend going to this Irish pub
