The Chestnut Inn
Welcome to the Chestnut, family run Bar & Restaurant located in the beautiful country side of County Down. Being close to the shores of Strangford lough and only a short drive away from the city of Belfast makes us one of the best places to visit on a great get together with family & friends.

Dine in the restaurant or bistro, watch your favourite sports in the sports bar, have a casual drink in our public bar, but if you prefer to make the most out of a sunny day or a warm summer evening we also have a Beer garden to enjoy. We also provide facilities for parties, small weddings or meetings.
Services
The Chestnut Inn has been trading for a very long time established back in 1863 as a shop and a public house, the owners of the Murray family. With its large chestnut tree hanging over its grounds you can see where it got its name from. It was bought by the Flanagan family in 2000 who have made great changes, adding a restaurant and sports bar, but renovated in the style that kept with the character of The Chestnut inn.
The sportsbar is a great place to have some fun there is a pool table, darts and gaming machines all to enjoy. We have a a large LCD tv to ensure you don't miss that important spoting event and we show all sky sports channels. There is a jukebox so you can listen to your recent favourite songs. The bar in small and quaint with a very traditional feel to it where locals come to mingle and mix and enjoy a drink.
The restaurant has a modern twist but somehow manage to stay in touch with the rest of the building, which has a more traditional outlay. Its large high backed chairs assure ultimate comfort and the personalized tables highlight the character of the place. The Bistro lounge is very cozy with different sized seating booths to suit our diners.
In the Chestnut we use the finest food in season to create large selection of dishes and deliver them to your plate. There is a wide range of top quality produce farmed in the area, so our products are sourced locally assuring freshness. With attention to detail, using traditional and modern techniques, we know how to take the best care of our customers.

Going by the previous reviews, we thought we were on a winner here, but they must be evening meals. We called in on a Saturday for lunch. The place was empty and should have sounded alarm bells!
While the elderly gentleman was polite and friendly I wonder if our experience was down to him or a kitchen not reading the orders properly. There were 4 of us.
The chicken curry was ok, the chicken stripes were nice although they arrived with veg when no veg were requested. The problems were the roast beef meals. Both were ordered without veg, and with mash potatoes. The order was read back 2 times.

Went for a meal here tonight. Staff gave the impression they didnt want to be there. Waitress took our order didnt bother telling us they had a steak deal on. We were told by the only other customer in the restaurant after we ordered. The food was not great. Ordered garlic potato as our side and we got chips in garlic butter. The only good thing was the Guinness. It was our first and definitely our last time there.

My wife and I spent 3 nights here for our 22nd anniversary . was the best B&B we have ever stayed in. We booked the blue room which was huge with lots of natural lighting and air flow.. big bathroom and big comfy bed.. lots of privacy , the Ladies running the B&B were amazing, took care of every need we had, and the breakfast hands down you wont find better, 5 course breakfast, cooked to perfection with lots of options, seated at the dining table feeling like royalty. they offered lots of options for restaurants and wineries. Just amazing .. i can't say enough.. we are all ready planning another

Went for a Sunday lunch, was nearly empty. Served quickly and politely. Food I had was amazing (the chicken supreme) and good for the money.
