The Bay Tree
We're back open 7 days a week and Every Friday Night for dinner. We've got a beautiful new outside seating area with wild flowers and herbs, as well as well spaced tables indoors. We're NOT taking day time bookings, so it's just first come, first served. We've plenty of seats though, so even when we have a queue it's not a long wait.

You CAN book for Friday Evenings though, by calling us on 02890421419 during business hours. We're delighted to be listed in The Good Food Guide 2019, a publication in which we've retained our place for over 10 years. We are currently the only caf in Northern Ireland in the guide. We're equally proud of our long standing recommendation by McKenna's Guides, another publication which relies on anonymous inspections rather than a subscription fee!
Services
I suppose like anywhere with a bit of a cult following, an element of enigma is an important ingredient. To some, we'll always be The Cinnamon Scone Place. To others, it'll be the place to go for the best lunch in town. The Bay Tree is a lot of things to a lot of people, which is how it goes after over 30 years.
We hope our menus reflect our approach to cooking informal food with a dynamic touch without ignoring the old favourites. Our lunch specials change daily to ensure that we're offering you the freshest ideas and dishes. Get in touch if you'd like to know what we're serving today! We serve breakfast every morning and all day on Sunday.
If you want to fry off some onions and garlic 30 minutes before your guests arrive to make it appear like you cooked it, consider that part of the deal! We won't squeal. We ask for at least 2 days' notice to prepare your food, as well as a minimum of 4 portions per selected dish. If there's something that you'd like, but you don't see it on our menu, talk to us! Seafood chowder should be renamed to sweetcorn chowder, consisted of mainly sweetcorn. Coffee lacked depth of flavour, was quite watery. We had to ask for water 3 times. I had been eager to try this place for a while and I was disappointed.

Great spot for coffee and one of the famous cinnamon scones!
As these are licenced premises, don't forget your vaccine evidence.

Good coffee, creative breakfast alternatives, delicious treats, e.g., cinnamon buns, caramel squares. Highly recommend!

Delicious Christmas lunch yesterday! Well done to all the staff coping with the added stress of govt rules they have to follow, yet still looking after us so well and giving us a very enjoyable time.

One sided business.. People who cannot get vaccines or wear a mask isn't their fault and this place is stating "they Wont get in"!!.. How is that good management?! Or catering for all customers! Im so glad I seen this post... A few of us will never return.. Ill be letting everyone know!
Disgusting behaviour!

Definitely won't put foot in here if they discriminate against people who have chosen not to take part in a medical experiment

I’ve been frequenting the Baytree for more years than I care to remember and have seen its transformation to a trendy cafe with interesting food. Of course it’s famous for its cinnamon scones but it’s salted… caramel chocolate squares are to die for! A weekly delivery during lockdowns kept me sane. Did I mention the beautiful outdoor area with flowers I love? It’s my favourite cafe.

I can't wait to go one Friday night. I went there for coffee today and the staff were lovely. Even when they were closed for coffee but getting ready for an evening trade they didn't rush us out....quite the contrary...made us feel right at home and home being the operative word because I felt as comfortable as I would have sat in my own dining room.

Great restaurant for something a little bit different to the norm. Satay eggs and babaganoush are a couple of favourites but you can also order more traditional food such as a breakfast stack. Great outdoor seating and friendly staff.

I had a wonderful experience on the Saturday before, with great service and beautiful food, in the Baytree’s “welcoming” atmosphere, however, when I returned on Tuesday lunchtime, once again for a beautiful flan of the day and salad, I was disappointed, and rather surprised with the service I experienced from such a wonderful place that I have visited many times. Such a pity...
