The Poachers is a pleasant and very friendly pub with rapidly growing reputation for good quality, fresh home-made food. Formerly known as the Masonic Arms it has been created by merging half a dozen terraced cottages. Occupying a corner site it is solidly built from local stone and blends well with its surroundings.
Well known for its window boxes and hanging baskets, The Poachers has won the "Bollington in Bloom" awards three times. It is situated at the very edge of the village, at the foot of Blaze Hill, a hundred yards from the Peak District National Park. Both the Gritstone Trail and the Middlewood Way pass nearby.

Arrived by bus from Macclesfield - just 200 metres or so to walk to this delightful place. We enjoyed an excellent two-course lunch, which was so good we decided there was room to squeeze in a dessert as well! A nicely appointed décor and cosy atmosphere, coupled with a warm welcome, in addition to the truly delicious cuisine, ensures that we will be back again next time we are over this way.

Decent ale selection including the rare and tasty (according to bf) Old Dog (he initially thought it was called Wet Dog but we confirmed that it is neither called nor tastes anything like Wet Dog) plus an array of local ales such as the Macclesfield based Storm Brewing Company. Good lunchtime food - nothing too fancy or expensive but classic choices such as gammon & egg and scampi. Proper local family-run freehouse, dog-friendly and real fire in the beautiful surroundings of Bollington. Also an excellent place for a drink before a trip to the very good Indian restaurant Viceroy, just across

The poachers is right on the edge of the village, it has quite a big car park and a nice beer garden out the back which is next to a field. There was a robin nesting in one of the pot plants in the garden last time I went. They serve reasonably priced tasty pub food and a variety of ales, it always seems to be quite busy and they have nice cubby hole style seating and a sunday night pub quiz once a month.
