Not good but not bad
I heard of this place 5 yrs ago and never have a chance to come.
Finally I came with my partner who is chef for more than 10 yrs and we both travelled lots in Asia before Covid.
The reason why I writing this as I want to give a proper review.
Environment:
100% Korean homy style.
When you go in from front door, you will see 6 small tables and each table can sit 2 person.
On the left hand side, there is (I believed it’s a box room with a window) odd area that allow two people sitting at the window and 4 people sitting at the dinning table.
This “box room” is hot

We visited yesterday and it was really, really good! We shared 2 starters and 3 mains which were all incredibly flavorful. We were given some soup and nibbles before our order arrived which were appreciated and also very tasty. Seemed very authentic and Mr Kim helped us with our choices. Service was excellent and very reasonably priced. This isn't a big place and the space is cosy but that added to the experience. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.

After walking over 5 miles exploring Edinburgh and being very hungry I wasn't sure if I wanted to stand in line to get into Kim's but I am sure glad that I did. The restaurant is very cute and both the food and service were excellent. My wife and I ordered the pajeon as a starter and it was very tasty. Next we ordered bulgogi and bibimbop. The bulgogi was easily the best we have ever had and the beef was just so tender; very delicious. The bibimbop was excellent as well with really flavorful mushrooms. I would highly recommend Kim's and the food really shows the love and pride

WHAT I HAD: Ddeokbokki [£8.00] – Rice Cakes, Fish Cakes and Vegetables with Spicy Sauce; Gamja Jeon [£8.00] – Pancakes made with grated potato and hint of sliced chillies; Sundubu Jjigae [£12.00] (Free Side Dish and Soup with Mains) – Spicy Stew with soft tofu (I requested it without meat & egg, not sure if it is 100% Vegan though) served with multigrain rice
A raved about Korean place that is popular among locals and international students. There was a queue outside when we came here for dinner. We didn’t wait that long, about 15 minutes. Although they were

Favorite restaurant in Edinburgh!! I ate here so many times this past year and I keep on dreaming about that pork stew. I'm not kidding, it tastes like heaven and the meat falls off so beautifully. Get there early because there's often a line for this gem. The owner is also super nice, so it's a win-win-win. Number 1 recommendation here in Edinburgh!

Literally the best hidden gem in the entire United Kingdom. Kim's Mini Meals has the most incredible, home cooked Korean meals prepare by the owner and his wife in a small kitchen. The menu is very limited, but they definitely specialize in what they make. The shop is only open for dinner from 5:30p to 8:30p and only open for 6 days a week. I recommend getting there a early because the the restaurant only has 6-7 tables. Lines form early and will wait the entire 3 hours is necessary to eat. I highly recommend the bibimpop and rice cakes with fish cakes. The meal comes with the traditional

I used to really love this little gem in Edinburgh, and was strongly recommending it to my friends whoever wanted to taste some authentic Korean cuisines. However, after a few visits, I am losing my enthusiasm due to the lack of reservation mechanism, the stale menu, and the cash-only payment policy.
The restaurant is very small, but located pretty conveniently near the main campus of the University of Edinburgh. It only has seven tables or so in two rather narrow dining rooms, so they do not take reservations, and you can sometimes see people queuing outside.

Whoa! What a great dinner we had here. I highly recommend it! I ordered the hot stone plate tofu bibimbap and my husband ordered Dolsot Galbi (Pork Ribs). I love, love, love bibimbap even before I became a vegetarian so I was so excited to have it. I asked my husband how would he rate his dish. He said, "Solid five stars." Both our dishes came with banchan (side dishes), which is typical in a Korean restaurant. I love banchan! The hot stone bowl kept our food hot until we finished the last scoop. I noticed this restaurant when I was walking on the street it was on. There was a line outside

If this were California, I'd probably give this place a 3.5, but I have to lower my Asian food standards for Scotland. Kim's Mini Meals is definitely the best Korean restaurant in the city. They're banchan was just okay, but their dishes were good and very authentic. Also, the place is one of the few restaurants in Edinburgh where you possibly have to wait in line, which means it's very popular. The best part of Kim's, though, is the service. The owners/servers are all excellent, warm, and kind. We had pork bulgogi and Ddeokbokki.

A little restaurant on the Michelin list. Not as what I imagined, they have quite narrow choices of food. Since the place is quite small and no reservation would be accepted, you need to come early. It was full in 30mins and those who didn't have seats had to wait outside in the cold winter because they weren't allowed to get in which I didn't feel good about. The soup I ordered was not very good but the pancake was not bad. Anyway, it was not as good as I imagined. If for Korean food, I think sodaeng which is 2mins walk away from Kim's was better and they had better service

Not in the center/busy area of the city, but not far away.
It is called "mini meals", so if you are looking for very fancy/romantic atmosphere, this might not be your best choice. But if what you want is comforting food, for example, hot and delicious soup with which you can have a full bowl of rice (yeah, Asian style), or spicy Bulgogi where the onion tenderizes and flavors the pork/beef nicely, then give it a try.
So actually 4.5 stars. -0.5 star because it is cash only.

I used to be a regular years ago and loved it but was really disappointed to come back, the bimbimbap is tasteless, the bowl made it too hot to eat for the first 20 minutes, there was just a sprinkle of meat, the waitress tried to explain to me that the meat was minced and that s why I couldn't t find it in the dish. Eventhough the starters tasted good, they were really tiny. Overall, I would t recommend the place.

There are a couple of Korean restaurants on this road, but this is by far the best! Authentic Korean restaurant managed by Mr Kim and cooked by Mrs Kim. Food is amazing - and served in porcelain you would find in a Scottish second hand shop (probably because traditional Koreanware cannot be easily found here in Edinburgh).
Small, quaint, and definitely a keeper!!

It's all true...as authentic Korean as you can get in Edinburgh. Reasonable prices, portions, service, etc. Our group had the kimchi pancakes, bibimbap, spicy pork, and a few other dishes the four of us shared. Hit the spot after a cold round of golf....and a couple of nights of Scottish food.
The place is small but quaint and after all, it's all about the food. Talked to the waiter/son who told us a bit about the journey his family took to end up in edinburgh running a Korean restaurant....kind of establishment you want to support.

Loved this place! Mr Kim is so lovely and the food was fantastic. We started off with the kimchi pancake and jap chae. Both very generous portions as the menu told us already. Pancake was nice and crisp on the outside, my two year old son loved this. And the jap chae flavours were delicious. My main was the bimbimbap while my husband had the pork bulgogi hotplate. Overall the food was excellent and we will definitely go back to this cosy little place.

I was here with my family a few months ago during our holiday trip. We found it rated quite high on Yelp and thus decided to give it a try. And it was wayyyy better than we'd thought! We tried almost all of the menu, from the rice cake (ddeokbokki) to the beef, squid bulgogi and the noodle (ramyun), and all of them were marvellous! It's the best Korean food I've ever tried, better than many Korean restaurants I've been to in London to be honest!
You should definitely come to this place when you're in Edinburgh

Finally made it to Kim's Mini Meals for dinner last night and gotta say I am already planning a return visit. The place is tiny, so it definitely pays to book. When we left there were two groups standing out in the cold waiting for tables.
I loved that you get a soup to start (last night was pea soup, which I'm not normally a fan of but it was WELL tasty), then a selection of little bites.. kimchi, pancake, meatballs, pickled daikon and something else which I've forgotten were the offerings last night.
We shared a spring onion pancake as a starter, then followed it up with a bimbimbap

We had a very pleasant dinner here. The food came out very quickly, Mr. Kim was nice (and spoke excellent English), and the food was as good as any Korean food that I've had in Koreatowns in NYC, Chicago, LA, or Seoul (except for the banchan which is on the skimpy side). The level of spice on some dishes might be too high for people who don't like spicy food BUT NOT ALL Korean food is spicy and they had non-spicy items on the menu.
Two mains, tea, and soft drink was 27£.

Whilst I'd order something next time (no idea why I stepped outside my comfort zone & went for a seafood dish) the overall experience here is very pleasant. Courteous, attentive & swift service, fantastic portion sizes of very well made dishes and an atmosphere of eating at your favourite granny's (if your granny's Korean). Booking's probably a good idea though as we were lucky to get a seat for dinner before the evening rush descended.
