The Grain Store
We are tucked away on the upper floor of No 30 Victoria Street beneath the stone vaulting and archways of the original store rooms used by the warren of shops below. Today, its various alcoves and adjoining rooms provide an intimate setting for you to enjoy your meal. One of Edinburgh's finest restaurants, serving beautiful food and delicious wine for 30 years, our story continues to grow.

One of the most romantic restaurants in Edinburgh, with soft candle light and old stone walls making this the perfect place to spend an evening with a loved one. A stone's throw away from the castle, the unique atmosphere is further enhanced by the view over the picturesque sweep of Victoria Street and the historic West Bow.

Sometimes it's not about the place, it's about the company. Well, in this case it's about both! ...And add the most amazing and well prepared food in the equation. Set up inside Victoria' street arches, this is a hidden gem 💎 with the most inviting and accomodating people, all working to make your evening an unforgettable experience. Really makes a difference. Will definitely love it!! Can't recommend enough.

Very nice food and a decent, quiet vibe. The beef is very unforgettable. The panna cotta is indeed very tasty! Unbeatable service with a good sense of humor.

I was really impressed by the atmosphere of this restaurant and how welcomed I was made to feel by Paul who gave me some great advice on the menu. Carlos our Chef prepared a super tasty Braised Brisket and the meat was simply perfect! I will definitely return next time I visit Edinburgh.

Great meal, in a lovely relaxing atmosphere & perfect service too! 👍👍👍👍👍
We hadn’t been to The Grain Store for a good many years, but we had good memories and we certainly weren't disappointed.
The location is very central, but the restaurant itself is situated away from the hustle and bustle. It’s relaxingly elegant inside and I’d describe the service in the same way.
The menu selection had something for everyone, and all was delicious – clean plates all round.
We live in Italy…. we couldn’t however resist trying the Panna Cotta as the description was very inviting

The Grain Store had really good reviews so I had to try it during my weekend trip to Edinburgh. The service was excellent and I like its vintage deco. My personal favourite was the pork belly dish - real crisp on the outside, juicy and tender inside. The chorizo mix that came with it was a little too salty for my liking. We also had the squid ink bun with fried cod cheek, a cod main, chocolate, oyster and fondant. Tbh, I was a little disappointed with the squid ink bun, maybe I had a wrong expectation but apart from the colour it doesn't have much of a squid ink taste? But overall still worth a

Went there for my birthday celebration. All the dishes we ordered were amazingly tasty, even the bread was homemade and very nice. I even wanted to buy some home. The staff was very friendly. The environment and decor were nice also. Enjoyed our meals and had a great celebration.

Adorable restaurant! I just think the interior is beautiful and have printed photos of their windows, because I'm in love!

But because this is a restaurant, I will also comment on the food which is also stellar. My husband and I just came for a midday snack of foie grad with the best! Delicious and decadent!

Cute and delicious! Highly recommend

I'm confused why this place is so popular.
It has a great Yelp average, and was recommended by my host here.

The location is on a touristy street in Old Town, and the interior is well-appointed and intimate.

The service is prompt, professional, and helpful. The wine was very good.

So what's the problem? The food. It's not very good. The lobster was tough and chewy - I'm not even sure how they did it. My entree was ok, although the portion seemed identical to the size of the appetizer. They charge you an extra £1 if you want bread, so I figured it must be something special

Pretty delicious, great wine, but the real charm of this restaurant is the location. Very dark and romantic, would definitely go back!

This a great little restaurant off of Daigon Ally (Victoria Street). Food was great, especially the lobster tagliatelle. Price was actually reasonable, which appeared to be the case throughout Scotland.

Am I a foodie? Some would say yes; I say that good food makes my heart beat faster ;-)

When I began my food adventures in Edinburgh, I didn't really start to get excited until I stumbled across The Grain Store.

The Grain Store isn't a place to go when you're on a budget; it provides dignified, polite service, upscale ambiance, and an interesting (but short) menu. The food is all well presented, and the owners are savvy enough to provide warmed plates and proprietary silverware. There's also a very high quality, complimentary bread board, as well as real linen napkins, an

Aside from the Goats cheese salad which Im told was delicious by both of its tasters..
Oysters were out, so I instead got the gazpacho.
It came in a mini jar looking more like a pretty sauce. With it, a few lumps of sun dried tomatoes, a kick of raw tomato puree and strong tang. Reminiscent of the vinegary kick in hot sauce, it was not so remarkable.

My second appetiser was the smoked salmon with fennel. Beautiful for both the eyes and palate, it was conjured up flawlessly. Its every part was delicate & worked.

Three of us got the Duck confit and I have to say it was incredibly disappointing

Really impressive place - not that my sights were not set high but I was thinking it would be a very good meal and not something wherein I would walk away saying things like "that was the best venison I've ever eaten" (side note - I've eaten a lot of venison).

They were creative with the meals but not out of control or going too far off the reservation. I had the lobster tagliatelle to start which was a deal and a half given that the pasta was home made and the quality of the lobster and caviar was so high. My wife had a starter I can't remember followed by the pork and

One of our favorite meals during the trip.

Excellent value at lunch... 15 pounds for 3 courses. All 3 courses (particularly the starter and main) were excellent.

I ordered the Black pudding started, and Pork Belly main, and both were delicious. Service was really good as well.

The place was very busy at lunch (mainly with senior citizens that day). However, it did seem like most of the people were locals.

The setting of the restaurant was quite nice as well.

I'd definitely recommend this place to others.

It has taken me a while to visit The Grain Store but it was well worth the wait. Boasting the best of Scottish produce, they offer a two course lunch for a generous £12.50 (or £15 for three courses).

To start I had oysters which came with shallot vinegar. Not a lot you can say cooking wise but they were plump and fresh as a daisy and the vinegar was a classic partner to them.

Sarah went for Stornaway black pudding with apple, which came well presented and was a good sized starter portion. The variations of apple complimented the wonderful black pudding and we were really enjoying the open
