Your favourite Edinburgh boutique hotel is now launching its inaugural dog-friendly package! The Dunstane Houses have stood at the gateway to old-town Edinburgh since the 1860s.
So we can manage the flow of guests throughout the hotel, we are asking that all guests book in advance to dine in The Ba Bar & Lounge, The Garden or for Afternoon tea. This is to avoid disappointment for any guest that may turn up without a reservation. Your safety is our priority.

In 1995 UNESCO recognised the unique character of Edinburgh with its medieval Old Town sitting in immediate contrast above its Georgian "New Town".This walk will take you into the heart of the World Heritage Site by a meandering scenic route. This walk can be completed in around 30 minutes.
The two facing buildings which make up the Dunstane Houses, 4 West Coates (Dunstane Villa) and 5 Hampton Terrace, were completed in 1866 and 1869 respectively.From the beginning the houses were linked. Thomas Gill, a wealthy silk merchant, lived in Dunstane Villa with two servants, while his sister, Margaret lived at number 5 with her husband Archibald Shearer (music seller), their three children and two servants.

My husband and I spent three days at the Hampton House. We were looking to our stay here as it was on the top of my list for Edinburgh. Both properties at Dunstane Houses are both charming and have tons of personality-- like well-lived and loved homes. With the two properties across from one another, we felt it was a nice concept for us as it felt like we were coming in and out of our own home, with the benefit of having our meals downstairs and visiting a friend's home for dinner at the Dunstane house. We adore the festive decor for the Christmas season as we were away with no tree in our home

Floor staff were super nice and food was decent.
The room we had was clean and the bed very comfortable, however it was tiny…probably the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. We may have gotten the runt of the litter, and other rooms may be normal sizes, but my wife and I literally did not have enough space to stand beside each other in the same area. The space between the end of the bed and the TV on the wall was about 10inches and was barely enough to get through without leaning on the bed.
When we mentioned this at checkout, the response was that it’s an old building (true) and that
