If you book a reservation here you better hope an act of God doesn't keep you from traveling! They won't give you a dime of the hundreds of dollars you spent to stay with them back. As someone who works for one of the biggest hospitality and entertainment corporations in the world, I'm honestly baffled.
Thanks to the UK's new restrictions on international arrivals I was going to be in isolation the entire length of my stay in Scotland. We decided to cancel our trip and travel in the future when things were better. The team at Nira Caledonia refused to give me a dime of my $600 back and told me

Could have been better, let down 40 mins before breakfast saying we could only have continental which was poor, toast arrived with fruit and yogurt but no butter or preserve and when it did arrive toast was cold and hard.
You must check all cupboards for the kettle as it's hidden and no one tells you on arrival and only a coffee pod machine on display.
The jacuzzi was nice but plug was broken and they have tried to fix with silicone.
Cracked floor tiles as you exit jacuzzi.
At the we price you pay a decent maintenance service would benefit here

Showed up and found they had cancelled our reservation 2 days before. Said our room was now "out of order". We booked through Expedia, so am guessing they cancelled our room vs others who booked directly at a higher rate. No word from anyone ahead of time. So now we're frantically trying to find a new hotel on a Saturday in June. Also, this hotel is a bit far from town down a fairly steep hill, so if you stay here, plan on taking a cab whenever you go out. Additionally, it's 3:00 and other guests are now arriving and being told there is a hold up in getting rooms available.

These are some of the friendliest and hospitable hotel crew I've come into contact.
We arrive at the hotel, only to find out there was a hotel fire two weeks prior and Priceline had cancelled our reservation only hours before arriving.
Lee and George at the front desk spent over 30 minutes to get Priceline to rebook our reservation with another hotel (as Nira didn't have rooms available). After finding no help from Priceline, Lee and George showed us a smaller room downstairs that worked out perfectly for us.
The location was perfect, right close walk to all the places you want

A warm and comfortable hotel in converted old townhouses. It has a friendly and hard working staff that took pains to help us. We were on the top floor in a small, beautifully done room during unusually hot weather and they moved us to a garden level suite that had great skylights to let air in.
Both rooms had bathrooms with towel heaters. The smaller room had a fancier shower/jacuzzi tub with rain shower head. Each room is different here.
Our one dinner at the hotel was good with a good selection of Scottish produced foods. Just ask for meat to be a bit more rare than you would ask for in

A very beautiful hotel in one of the best locations in Edinburgh (Stockbridge). Literally down the road is a high street with excellent restaurants and drinking spots, an Aesop and some shopping. It's a short walk to the river and close to a pretty common.
The breakfast comes included and it's really great- you can get a 'made to order' hot breaky or just stick to the cold buffet (cheese, salmon, cereals, very good break selection and fruit/yoghurt).
All of the staff here are next level good and will help you in anyway that they can.
The bathrooms are varied sizes, some

My husband and I stayed here for during our babymoon and had a fabulous time! The room was a comfortable well appointed! It was furnished with modern amenities while maintaining, it's old world charm, our room had a great view of the garden and it was quite nice to be able to look out the floor to ceiling window in the morning while sipping on a cup of tea. My only complaint was that there were no elevators to take us to our rooms and we had a bit of luggage since we were traveling for two weeks! The room was a bit small, but that is to be expected with a boutique hotel.

My first review of 2013, and it's a good one, so let's hope this is a sign of things to come. As you may know, I have a bit of a beef (if you pardon the pun) about steak places in Edinburgh. Too often, the preparation of the our wonderful Scottish beef leaves a lot to be desired, and certainly doesn't match the quality of the ingredient. In the Nira Caledonia's lovely hotel restaurant, we found the best steak that we've comes across in Edinburgh, so far.
