My name is David Mayer and I am lucky enough to have one of the best jobs in the world; being the head teacher of Hungerford Primary School. The school is a 2 form entry primary school in the market town of Hungerford in West Berkshire catering for children aged 4 to 11 years. Our school has one aim; to enable every child in our care to be successful.
We have high expectations of our children and set challenging targets for them. We encourage every child to reach their full potential and recognise that each child is special in their own way and has their own contribution to make to our school and in the wider community. We expect all members of our community follow this.

Services
Our Governing Board provide confident and strong strategic leadership which leads to robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance. The board consists of a nominated governor from the Local Authority, a governor elected by staff, three governors elected by the parents, four co-opted governors and the headteacher.
We elect our school councillors, eco-council, and the class "Character counts" medal winners. Through our assemblies and other activities we encourage our children to behave respectfully. We seek to develop a strong sense of morality in school. Through discussion of the values of aspiration and responsibility we encourage all of our children to make the most of opportunities and to follow their interests and passions.
The inspectors saw the following during their two day visit with us (amongst many other things.) Pupils enjoy the wide range of subjects that they study, with music and sport being especially popular. They say they like school because they feel their ideas are heard. Teachers know how to successfully adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
The West Berkshire Local Offer provides information and guidance on services for children and young people, aged 0-25, with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). Their website is a good resource for children, young people and their parents/carers looking for information about education, health, social care, preparing for adulthood and leisure.
At Hungerford Primary School we work as a team to provide the very best we can for the children in our care. Our goal is to help children recognise, value and celebrate their individual skills and to help them develop to their full potential. We are part of a vibrant local community and have a supportive and active PTA.
