Baydon St Nicholas Church Of England Primary School
Baydon St Nicholas Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School is a village school set on the edge of the Marlborough Downs on the borders of Wiltshire and West Berkshire. Staff and Governors are passionate about providing the very best education for our children in a happy, caring family environment. As a Church of England Aided School we develop a strong family ethos and a community of trust within the context of the Christian faith.
Services
Pupils at Baydon follow an exciting curriculum based around topic areas the whole school can explore according to their age and interests. Trips, visitors and special activities all add into providing a basis for pupils not just to learn how to read and write but to develop a thirst and love for learning that lasts well beyond the primary school years.
Our school provides a Christian environment which stimulates a passion for life-long learning and nurtures happy, confident and resilient children. Passionate about providing the foundations for children to fulfil their potential in the ever changing world. Committed to nurturing a Christian environment where we are tolerant, respectful and care for each other in our community and the wider world.
All schools have a legal duty to work with other agencies, for example social services and the police, to safeguard children's welfare. We have a senior member of staff who is responsible for child protection matters affecting pupils at the school (Mrs Caroline Knighton).

We also have a Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy 2020 which explains how the school deals with child protection concerns, including allegations about the behaviour of members of staff. If the school is worried about a pupil's welfare, this must refer this on to a social worker. The school will normally let the parent(s) know when they do this.
The Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools which is additional to main school funding. The funding is allocated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are eligible for free school meals (FSM), a smaller amount allocated according to the number of children of service families, and an allocation for each pupil who has been 'Looked After' (in care) for 6 months or more.
The government provides additional funding to improve provision of physical education and sport in Primary Schools. This funding provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
