Every child is different but our aim at Norton Pre-School is for every single child within our care to thrive, flourish and develop socially, cognitively, emotionally and physically. In choosing Norton Pre-School you are entrusting us with the care of your child, often for a substantial part of their day, so we want to ensure that you make this decision with confidence and are as fully informed as is possible.
It is important for every parent to explore the different options of childcare available to them before making a commitment. Every parent wants to make the right decision for their child and we strongly believe at Norton Pre-School that you should look at all the different settings (playgroups, nurseries, pre-schools, au pair) available to you so you have made an informed decision.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. As parents it is very important to make you aware of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is how the Government and early years professionals describe the time in your child's life between birth and age 5 the end of their first year at school.
All children attending our Pre-School have a personal on-line Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. This builds up a record of your child's experiences during their time with us. We use a piece of secure, educational software called Famly to manage child's personal information, abscences, learning observations, keep track of invoices, amongst other things.
Our staff ensure that all the children at Norton Pre-School experience happy, exciting, active, fun and secure experiences in their early years, supporting their development, care and learning needs. A large proportion of our staff have been with us for a number of years. Anne has worked at Norton Pre-School since 2000 and has four children and two grandchildren.
A big hello from your Committee. Did you know that the committee is reponsible for managing and supporting the pre-school and making overall decisions? It is made up of Parents who have children in the pre-school, breakfast and after school club who volunteer their time. The committee has an AGM each September which all parents are invited to attend and hear about what has gone on over the past year.
Norton Pre-School regards snack and meal times as an important part of our setting as it represents a social time for the children and an opportunity to promote healthy eating. The children are encouraged to demonstrate their independence with administering their snacks and drinks and clearing their own plates and cups.
