Horringer Pre-school
Come for a free trial session to see our caring, friendly and fun environment for yourself. Horringer Pre-School is a popular village Pre-School that has been a much-loved part of the local community for over twenty years. Our location, in the pretty village of Horringer, is within easy reach of Bury St Edmunds town, and surrounding villages (Whepstead, Risby, Barrow, Chedburgh, Chevington, Great Saxham, Little Saxham, and beyond).

We are open every weekday during term-time from 8.45am to 3.30pm, and offer morning and afternoon sessions, plus a Lunch Club. You have complete flexibility (spaces permitting) as to when and how often you would like your child to join us - although we do recommend a minimum of two sessions a week to help your child settle in well.
Services
Horringer Pre-School is a registered charity, with a small team of dedicated, friendly staff employed to care for your children. They work closely with the proactive parent-led Management Committee, who are in charge of making sure the Pre-School is run effectively, and in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements.
Our small team of caring staff have over forty years' experience between them, nearly all of it at our Pre-School. Their own children came here. Each of them is passionate about working with children, highly qualified, and loves to provide each child with individual attention suited to their needs.
The Pre-School facilities nourish our children's learning, helping them grow from a toddler into a confident young child, emotionally ready for school. Our open plan indoor space means that our children can move freely between the different activities, always with the careful (but not intrusive) supervision of the staff.
Our Pre-School is a registered not-for-profit charity, run by current and former parent volunteers for the benefit of our children. You can join to help with the fundraising, or join the Management Committee, or just help out at events - we are grateful for all support. The Management Committee and the Fundraising Committee both meet twice a term, and meeting dates and agendas are posted outside the Pre-School and emailed to all parents.
The Pre-School is open during weekday term-times, with a morning and an afternoon session, and our lunch club in between. The Curriculum is carefully tailored to meet the needs and interests of the children that we have in our Pre-School at that time.

There are half-termly themes, like "Spring", or "Animals''; and we also have weekly topics like "Changes" to support those children attending who are becoming big brother and sisters, moving house or moving up to primary school.Changes in the seasons and annual religious festivals are incorporated too, and we involve parents by issuing regular newsletters about our plans.

Amazing Pre-School and fantastic staff. Well deserving of their Outstanding Ofsted rating. My children both enjoyed their time at Horringer Pre-School, it was a sad day when they moved on to 'big school'!

Horringer Pre-School provided a wonderfully caring and fun environment for my daughter, from age 2 until starting “big school”. I was completely happy leaving her there because I knew she would be safe, and that she would enjoy herself. I am very grateful to the dedicated staff for providing such a friendly, supportive environment for the kids (and the mums too!) Thank you from all of us xx

Horringer Pre school is a happy, friendly school. My daughter loves going to school, she loves the teachers, children and activities they do. She has been going since she was 3 years old and has thrived from it. She’s learnt so much and had made many friends. The teachers are lovely and friendly and easy to talk to if you have any problems or issues. My daughter has cystic fibrosis and needs medication to eat her meals and special precautions with some outdoor activities, her key worker and other teachers are more than happy to do these for her. When I leave her at Pre school, I’m happy that

Two of my children have been to the wonderful pre-school. My daughter loved her time there and left well prepared for the her first day at primary school. My son is currently at the pre-school and the kind and caring staff always have a smile to put him at ease. It has taken him a bit of time to settle but staff have adopted a brilliant strategy of preparing activities and stories that appeal to his farming interests. I get great comfort knowing he is in a fun and nurturing environment.
