Services
With origins in the eighteenth century the hotel was originally built as a stopover for passengers travelling by stage coach along the old A9 to Inverness and the North of Scotland. The facilities and atmosphere experienced in the hotel together with the hospitality and welcome extended by our staff make the Duke Of Gordon the ideal place to stay when visiting the Highlands.
At the Duke we want you to be able to relax and unwind in our newly refurbished lounge bar. Whether it's morning coffee, a late lunch or and evening meal we can certainly accommodate and we are open daily to non residents. With a comprehensive selection fine wines and spirits including malt whiskies and Scottish gins.
The Cairngorm National Park is an extensive area of outstanding natural beauty. At approximatley 1,400 square miles this makes it the largest National Park in Great Britain. It is a land dominated by rock and stream, river and mountain, history and heritage. Welcome to a region of contrast, a land of forest and loch, with all the amenities and entertainments of a modern holiday centre in this truly unspoilt part of the world.
At the Duke of Gordon Hotel we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and consider them a cornerstone for our business. We are extremely focused on mitigating the effect we have on the planet through a number of strategies and are continually trying to reduce our impact by controlling CO2 emissions, reducing the usage of single use plastics and recycling wherever possible.
Here at the Duke we pride ourselves on our efforts to be as green as possible. There are many other attractions in our area the you can visit with the Green Award from the Scottish tourist board. Green Tourism is an accreditation organisation founded in Scotland, originally developed through a partnership between VisitScotland and Green Business UK, who continue to develop and operate the scheme.

Friendly staff and good en suite room. We have been going to the Duke since 2016 and had always enjoyed the food. However our recent stay on the 10th and 11th of December was dreadful as far as food was concerned. It was not well cooked and poor tasting. If this had been our first visit, it would be our last. If I wish to say there again and it's the same chef, then I will not book

We have just got back from a 4 night stay at the Duke of Gordon. I have to compliment the staff for making our short holiday a very pleasant stay. We were given a beautifully clean, downstairs room (room 1) as my husband has MND; it was perfect with walk in shower, ample space for the wheelchair and a short walk to the dining room or reception. Good food and plenty of choice, lovely staff (especially Moe in the bar who flys around and always with a smile). This hotel, like so many, are working with a smaller than normal team, due to the difficulty getting people back into hospitality. However,

The room we was in is very dated. New bathroom is needed. Dents in quite a few parts of the bath. Bathmat was grubby. On two occasions when we returned from our trips, our door was left unlocked by the cleaner. The first time this happened the key was left in the lock in the door, on the passage side of the door. The second time, the door was left unlocked, no key in. The "special" meal which was for Christmas day, on our table, there was no pigs in blanket or stuffing to go with the turkey and the explanation was, they'd run out of ingredients. The custard which went with the Xmas pudding was

Stopped off for a coffee on the way through, decided to have a sandwich as we were also feeling a bit hungry. I ordered a tuna and red onion (no onion). It came with a side of mixed salad leaves which were past their best. Hubby had cucumber in his salad and peppers not me though. We waited over 30mins for our sandwiches and the place wasn't even busy. To top it off I had to remind them that we still hadn't had our drinks. Not a very good impression for first time visitors so we wont be back.

Positives ...Staff were lovely. Beautiful building. Felt welcome. Good food. Nice renovation. Fantastic art work as an aside! Wee negatives - floors so squeaky in the bedrooms - no secret hanky panky (as if). Weird experience at breakfast - only people singled out to not sit in the nice dining room. We ended up alone in a large room without a table cloth. All atmosphere in other room. But overall we loved it. Town worth a look. Great coffee shop. Thanks DoG hotel!
