Radlett Opticians & Contact Lens Centre
The ethos at Radlett Opticians has always been to provide caring and continuous attention to each and every patient. Had a call from Moorfields Hospital today and its good news regarding biopsy results. There is no evidence the cancer spread beyond the eye and they confirmed it as Chorodial Melanoma. So thank you so much for being on the ball and referring me when you did, I will be forever grateful.
Services
Patient loyalty stretches to an extent that patients return to the practice for their eye test from as far afield as China, New Zealand, USA, Canada and Belgium, and as close as Cornwall, Norfolk and the Malverns. In my 80 years of having an eye test I have never had such a thorough and professional eye examination.
Refraction - a correct and precise prescription is ascertained using a phoropter and a computerised test chart. Slit-lamp examination - this vital equipment is important to look at the health of the eyelids, cornea, conjunctiva as well as the crystalline lens. We have a slit-lamp camera so we can document the changes within these anterior segments including cataracts.
DAYTONA PLUS BY OPTOS, ULTRA WIDE FIELD RETINAL CAMERA - Provides ultra high resolution retinal imaging in seconds, capturing optomap in seconds. The captured image gives a 200 degree view of the retina bringing peripheral retinal tears and detachments in sharp focus. ANGIOVUE OCT BY OPTOVUE - At Radlett Opticians we were early adopters of OCT scanners to view the retina in slices similar to an MRI scanner.
Did you know it takes 100 milliseconds for information to reach from the eye to the back of the head! ERG is a specialised eye test that detects the function of the light receptors rods and cones as well as detects function of the ganglion cells that transmits light signal to the visual cortex. With ERG we can measure the time it takes for signal to reach the visual cortex.
An eye examination can sometimes detect diabetes, high blood pressure or neurological abnormalities. The markers for diabetic retinopathy are micro-aneurysms, haemorrhages and exudates. Diabetic retinopathy can be classified as mild, moderate and severe. When exudates, haemorrhages and micro-aneurysms associated with thickening within the foveal area then we term this as Diabetic maculopathy.
