Hobbyhorse is a non profit preschool that serves the local community of Stony Stratford, Galley Hill, Fullers Slade and surrounding areas. Hobbyhorse introduces children from the age of two to five years to a safe, stimulating and fun environment. We focus on developing their core skills and social confidence, in preparation for formal education. Based on the "Early Learning Years" we serve our pre-school community, in partnership with our parents.
Services
Hobbyhorse is an Ofsted registered pre-school and a registered charity that serves the local community of Stony Stratford, Galley Hill, Fullers Slade and the surrounding areas. Hobbyhorse has been located in the historic town of Stony Stratford since 1985 and is based at the Children's Centre on London Road.
At Hobbyhorse we believe in learning through play and provide a range of activities that are child initiated and adult led by the Early Years team. Some activities are planned in advance and some follow the lead of the children's interests, with half-termly 'themes' providing inspiration. Planned activities can be changed or adapted to respond to the children's ideas as necessary.
Often Hobbyhorse will be the first time that a child has been left by a parent/carer in a pre-school environment and we understand that this can be daunting for them and you. Some children settle immediately, others take a while longer and need some extra support. The Hobbyhorse team will happily give extra TLC when needed and will contact you to reassure you if your child was distressed at the time you left.
Hobbyhorse adheres to childcare policies as required by Ofsted and the PSLA. A list of policies is available to view and includes policies such as child protection, and special needs. The policies are reviewed annually and updated as necessary. At Hobbyhorse we welcome parental involvement and if you have any comments to make regarding these policies, whether positive or negative, please feel free to discuss them with the Committee Chair.
Hobbyhorse Pre-School has provided affordable daycare to the Stony Stratford, Fuller Slade and Galley Hill communities for over 30 years. As a not for profit charity, all donations make a direct impact. Your donation purchases new items that encourages learning and social skill development.
From puzzles, paints and books during indoor play time to vehicles and play structures for outdoor play, each donation provides fun experiences for the children. We are always looking for parent helpers to assist in sessions. Not only does it help the setting out tremendously with an extra pair of hands but also gives parents a valuable insight into how the children spend their time at Hobbyhorse.
